Of the many that have been out, none were impact players at league level, with most being fringe players at best - massive gap between SANFL and GSFL.

Westbrook,Kruger,Button and Stevens all played some good footy at league level. Others like Duncan went OK too.

Kruger played a few "reasonable" games, as did other two - Stevens was nowhere near it. Wasted argument anyway - none will be chased by league clubs, and clearly none of the guys want to do the work to be league players anymore - move on

I guess everyones has the right to an opinion, even though no one cares for yours. A guy called Ryan Darling springs to mind about making the transition from country to league, im sure theres others. There wouldn't be one person in the GSFL that thinks Matt Hodge isn't good enough to play League. Through a little investigation, our Coach at Pongy reckons you should stick to getting the socks, shorts & holding the door open for the players Bunton

I find it funny that people at south think that because a player doesn't want to stick around out there that is means they are not good enough to play league, maybe it means that south aren't good enough for them. Even though south play in the SANFL, I wouldn't consider them a League side.

no doubt there will be the odd country player capable of playing decent SANFL if they have the time and desire. Darling is a good example and was certainly capable, but the time and/or desire did not last long. That's his call.

Maybe Hodge is good enough - but we may never know. If he's happy to lean on the bar, and listen to his worshippers like you spruke about what he could have been capable of, if he actually put himself on the line, and committed the time and did the work, then that's his right. At the moment you are painting him as a classic "could've been", that has actually achieved very little football-wise. Not sure how he would feel about that.

Victor, with their win over Yank today, and the Creeks who won by 15 goals look to be the current form teams. Both will be keen to avoid playing in Elim final though.

Yank and creek still have a few tough games ahead. Percentage definately going to have a brearing on how top five pans out. Strath look to have top spot sewn up with willunga and three bottom teams left to play. Laccy mcgregor 11 goals as small mid/fwd great effort for the creek. Yank on a slide now still to play willunga and creek next two games.

McGregor was on fire on Saturday. Hardly dropped a mark and I reckon he kicked 11 straight. Very hard to match up, with great hands and very fast. Very good kick
Delivery to him was as good as I have seen.
It was a very entertaining game with close to 45 goals kicked for the day.
Cam Hockey down the other end was very good with 7 goals for McLaren.

Meeting this Friday night at Victor to discuss the current Junior set up in the GSFL. With some clubs having huge numbers in the under 14's there might be another push
to review the age gaps from U171/2 all the way down through minis and moddies.
U171/2, U 15 under 13 under 11 and under 9 seems a sensible start to the discussion. It does mean an extra game and the ramifications of that.... Friday nights, mid week or Sunday or a very early start, or maybe going across the ground and playing U11 and U 9 at the same time, however the aim should be to get as many kids having a kick as possible.

LF you are the junior expert ...what are your thoughts???

Yetti could it be that, if the table remains as is, it would be better for both myponga-sellicks and mclarens to lose the last match at myponga to gain the extra 2 points. "It does make you think."

We have been playing 2 games across the oval for a while now in the RMFL , classed as u9 and u11 but really dependant on size and skills, has worked very well and enables all the kids to touch the ball and feel a part of the game. Was initialy resistance from some clubs but is now standard practice.Have been no negatives as far as im aware and has seen numbers increase to the point some clubs are now having 3 games at the same time with even younger kids (5,6 & 7)
Gets more parents involves in your footy club as well.Probably also gaining some younger kids who would normally have played soccer until there a bit older. Also some clubs here are giving all the kids a sausage after the game on saturdays ( both sides ) which has beed a good initiative.
Anything which promotes junior footy and increases numbers is a good thing as it can be hard to keep numbers as they reach u17 level.

Great idea - Is there any reduction in admission costs into the ground? Hard to police if a reduction is given etc. Obviously increases the crowd at the games as well.

I think if they leave before the senior grades start they can get half their admission price back so would cost them $3.Pretty cheap compared to basketball up here and subs are only about $20 also.
