The Pom's recieved 'em last, when they won the Ashes, surely our boys will recieve one for winning 'em back?

I believe Julie Andrews is now a dame. So there is hope.

I loved Warnie's sledge to Collingwood yesterday, something along the lines of:

"Paul, you got an MBE for making 7 runs at the Oval, top stuff"

I think the title of this thread should be:

Will Australia's cricketers get an OAM?

And to be honest, I hope not.
Those honours should be reserverd for outstanding service over a period of time and not just a knee jerk reaction to a moment of success (although, who knows if the nation's leading backslapper J Ho will want to get in on the act and present something?).

If we followed England's lead - the sub-fielders who helped out in the first test would be getting OAMs (just as the sub fielder who ran Ricky Ponting out in England received). Again I hope not.

they can have the mbe's but we'll take the ashes 8) 8) 8) 8)

i think if mal, myself,mt & punk were picked (as replacements to the 4 retirees) we'd beat them as well
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Don Bradman will remain our only cricketing knight. Australians can no longer win knighthoods, as we moved away from English awards in the 70s.
So, no chance on Sir Shane.

A bunch of fancy letters after your name doesn't mean you are any better. That has probably always been Englands problem as they will pick Toff's and chums over ability.
