Although a lot of targets were missed by both sides, I thought it was a pretty good game. Kicking for goal was probably the worst component. Both sides kicked a number out on the full.
But, it was tough hard footy. A Norwood player took a speccy, lot's of hard tackling a lot of good competitive one on one contests.
I had a bad feeling about today with James and Schelly out. Very relieved to get the win. Havelberg (Mr Kleenex) will be dangerous when he kicks straight(er).
Callinan, brilliant. Special mention to Hayesernator, caught under the ball running backwards, fantastic overhead mark resulting in a goal. Most courageous, again.
Good turn out by Norwood supporters.

Once again central look so much better with havelberg up forward. his the most important footballer at the club imho. Norwood didnt impress me today at all especially the way they tried to enter there forward 50 by chipping around the arc. Thwy didnt handle the big oval very well and lucky for the dogs finals are on the bigger oval. Looking forward to finals when we should have back gowans schell cochrane sutherland henderson nash and maybe griffen geez dont know how we are going to fit them all in.

Regarding the deliberates paid at the end of the game. I agree the umpiring was unaspiring throughout but judging by the lack of remonstrating by the centrals players at the time I think deep down they knew the calls were correct.

WHUFC, with my earlier comments I was using the close result for my reasoning. Why do you think they didn't play the big oval well?

I think Norwood played the big ground very well they had no problems at all, so come finals time all teams watch out they could go all the way.

I thought that the 2 deliberate out of bounds frees were correct.

I would like them to always be paid like that and not just in the last 5 minute of a game.

honestly thought the scoreboard flattered norwood a bit. we dominated larger periods of the game and were out to a 20 odd point lead in time on.

watching the replay now with a sore head. my reasoning is there very heavily reliant on moving the ball by hand and run. this is all good and well on the smaller ovals where you carry it 50 meters and your one kick from being inside 50.

On the bigger oval they missed plenty of options where players were lose 40 meters ahead but they preffered to run rather than kick over the distance. Another aspect was once in the center square they looked to chip the ball inside 50 rather than the quick long entry which i think works alot better. At the parade you can find a target from the center square 15 meters away and then have a shot on goal

The size of the the oval had nothing to do with why we lost yesterday. Missing targets and not kicking straight are the reason we lost. From what i seen today i don't think your style suited that size oval any more than it did ours. You obviously didn't read the score board right and didn't see that you only won by 8 pints. You only kicked one more goal than we did.

MALGICAL MOMENTS

There were about a dozen brilliant or booby moments in this game
Almost all of them by the Legs

PUOPOLO
In the 3rd qtr, the dogs up by a couple of points
The ball was kicked into a pack on the wing
About the sMALlest player in the pack was Puopolo
He jumped up and was still up
And took a sensational mark
Shortly b4 that the Pup took a kick off, played on and took several bounces and finished disposing the ball into the legs forwards line, a trademark Pup run this season
Im thinking this will be his last season at the Parade for a while ...

PHILLIPS
One of those contentious deliberates late in the game
This time Thomas was pinged
Phillips was tucked away in the pocket
He ran around and on his non preffered left foot hooked a very difficult goal

you may have seen the scoreboard but i watched norwood kick 3 goals in time on when game was already sealed. norwood never threatened in the last quarter.

was great to hear james gowans give my work a plug in his half time interview.

TROTTER marks
DUTSCHKE tries to spoil, but TROTTER marks
TROTTER takes the body
DUTSCHKE makes a good effort to spoil
Good hard uncompromising footy
Good contest
And then...

TROTTER is awarded a 50 metre penalty
Terrible decision
TROTTER has a relatively easy shot at goal and misses
Without being there, I would prob have heard a famous SANFL cliche
"" All it deserved.""

Im hoping this was an error of judgement by the umpire, rather than a pre meditated directive

I wonder how many of those Norwood 'supporters' were following the side last year, or even around rounds 6-7 this year before Norwood hit some form
