It is 9/10 but a challenging road ahead for the next 6 games. A double chance is definitely no certainty yet and mathematically we can still easily miss the finals altogether.

That maybe the case in most other clubs cases but generaly not the Eagles. When a Crows or Power player drops back to us they may not neccessary like being dropped they give their all for the jumper because the majority have a genuine passion about our footy club.

Some seem to, some don't seem to
Agree MickyJ about Banner. Same with Jacky, who could be offering the pace we need.
Knights, though, is a non-Eagle who I don't think you could question his commitment when he lines up for us.

This game showed some glaring problems for the Eagles...

1. We are missing our 'top liners' - Salter, Broadbent, Shultz, Treeby, Goldy.

2. We struggle against the better MIDFIELDS in the competition - IMO all of our losses this year have been a result of the opposition midfields being on top.

3. Playing half fit AFL players is always fraught with danger - they should've played in the 2nds.

4. Our best is very good (although I don't think it's good enough to trouble Centrals) BUT our worst is AWFUL - I stuggled to name 5 'best' players for this game - was pleased with 'Bear', he appears to be 'growing' into a very good defender (kicks like Paul Northeast though).

I think we will still make the finals (provided we beat South this week) but not sure we can go much further than the 1st Semi or @ best a Prelim - that's provided the PAPs release our players back to us for the finals - if not, then will struggle to beat West, Norwood or Sturt in Elimination IMHO.

I predict an Eagles/Sturt Elimination final.
Both teams in form will be very dangerous for the loser of the Qualifying final who I predict to be Glenelg.
Still see the Eagles as a very dangerous opponent.
Evans is a class player. Magarey ?

I would agree with most of what you said.

In regards to your first point I think it should have been amended to read we miss our top liners IN FORM. Treeby’s form hasn’t warranted top line status for many years. Goldsworthy has played most of the season but has been out of touch. Broadbent has been useful but not dominant. IMO he played better games for us in his second year. We absolutely miss Salter and Schultz.

Your midfield point is particularly valid. Most eagles supporters recognised this deficiency last year and the need to recruit a speedy rover. For whatever reason our recruiters ignored this deficiency and it is costing us. Lewis has been an unexpected bonus but he is a midfielder in the mould of a Powell and doesn’t have the pace around packs as does someone like Callinan for Centrals.

We will make the finals and I think we will end up fourth. I can see us beating whoever finishes fifth but agreed we won’t go any further.

Who is the coach because they just get better and better.

some real talent in that team that can front up again next year. Growden, Dunstan, Jacquier to name a few off the top of my head.

Terry Hutton is the Eagles U18s Coach, was the U17s coach before the change to the U16/U18s last year, first year as coach was about 2005.
