Round 22

Postby topcat10 » Mon Jul 12, 2010 7:35 pm

I have received notification that the AFL matches for this round have been finalised. With the Crows scheduled to play in Adelaide on Saturday afternoon and Power to play at Etihad on Sunday, will the SANFL move some of the games due to be played on the Saturday(Aug 28th)? Surely they would not have all games up against a Crows home game?

You would think they would move them to a Sunday as it is possible Adelaide will be playing for a finals spot in R22

With just the 1 scheduled night game this year, I know Central were keen to possibly change their Round 22 home game v Sturt and Round 23 home game against Glenelg from day games to night games.

The weather will be a bit warmer at this time of year and this will help increase crowd numbers. Sadly for me, unless the SANFL reschedule a game to Clare, I'll miss this round because of my 1 year wedding anniversary :(

Isn't R22 Sturt V Centrals at Unley?

As per usual worst possible timeslot given to Crows in terms of knock on effects for other SA footy.

Twilight game clashes with both afternoon and night game scheduling on the Saturday.

Good, means there will be less Crows supporters at the games.

One SANFL game has to happen on the Saturday for the ABC broadcast.

I suspect Norwood will be happy to have that Saturday slot (away at Glenelg), if Glenelg is, as the club has its Hall of Fame night that night and it won't be quite the same if current players cant attend because they have to play the following day. It would be a good game to broadcast but so too would Sturt v Central.

If 3 games are played on the Sunday, it will be interesting to see if clubs want to play Rd 23 on the Sunday as well to keep 7 day breaks going in to the finals series.

Bays don't play home games in conflict with Crows games ... so it won't be that one.

Correct, unless Sturt for some reason want to play it under lights at Adelaide Oval (zero chance of that happening though after last years debacles)

I can see Centrals round 23 clash with Glenelg (which is at Hamra Homes Oval) being played Saturday night though

Nah she's right mate. Gillard plays for the Western Bulldogs, not Central

That shouldn't affect the SANFL too greatly - I'm sure players/officials would be allowed to pre-poll, or vote in the morning, and supporters can vote first thing before heading out to the footy (which is what I did at the state election - albeit that was prior to a trial game).

Perhaps that is what Rucci means by the "most powerful man in SA footy", because every other team has had at least one home game against a Crows game in the last couple years I reckon. And to go further, I don't reckon too many of those have been against Glenelg either.
