Firstly what is wrong with someone actually getting on here and saying "gee u were ripped off". Instead u get comments like "oh but what about the other decision that went over the post and clearly through for a point". Did it go over the post or go "clearly" through for a point. I wasn't there but it doesn't quite seem to be in the same category.

Someone brought up a valid point saying that if the player didn't call him a cheat another kick would not have been awarded... Atleast the comment is correct and makes sense. I agree however as a player that on the odd occassion is inclined to disagree with an umpire, decisions like this one seems to be are ******* infuriating and the natural and possibly correct inference is drawn that the guy is a cheat. We need to protect umpires from crazy abuse but wat about protecting the integrity of the game.
Fact is for Elizabeth is that we are four games behind top.[/b] It is not the first time this year a game we won has been taken off us. Hectorville are obviously a very good side It just seems we gave their measure. They too have not faced us any where near full strength. Brahma IMO are a much harder match up for us and if they got over the hoodoo the heccies seem to have on them would beat them comfortably. Ok that's all

He repeatedly swore at the umpire, hence he was sent off, red carded and a free kick was awarded.

Fact is you are 5 games behind 1st.

Point taken on five games however....are you an idiot? My post clearly stated we need to protect umpires from abuse clown.

Booze how about an article in the Budget encouraging clubs to take their boundary and goal umpiring seriously. This incident has cost you the game, a possible double chance and possibly a suspension. I know the SAAFL sets the age minimum at 14 but lets get real, a 14 yr old should not be doing these sort of roles

Pfffft .... give me a break. One decision in the 3rd quarter of a match does not decide a match, no matter how much some might think so.

I've lost count of the number of decisions either as bad or worse that I have seen over the years. Its amateur sport and you will get some bad decisions go against and some for you. Teams need to learn to accept that.

As for 14 yrs old - where did that come from? The guy was in his 20s - who said he was 14?

I also noticed a 2nd player was reported from this match - not sure if it was related to the same incident.

Was just informed the 2nd report was from the later C grade game also for abuse of an umpire. Obviously didn't learn.

How the hell do you get crook when you 9 foot 14 tall? Must be all that thin air up there is leaving him light headed.

Is the big fella a smokey for the medal???

He'll be up there IMO. He's hard not to notice.

elizabeth's goal umpire looked pretty young. i asked the field ump whether he was too young to umpire and he said he looked old enough. in my opinion, they need to be a lot stricter on the age of goal umps. there was nothing wrong with the elizabeth umpire but in general its pretty easy to get influenced at adults screaming at you when your young as well as lack of skills.

Yeah number 7. One of the favourites I would have thought... especially if we can win a couple more games.

The umpire was protecting the integrity of the game by sending the player off.

And yes, I must be an idiot for even trying to reply to your post...

I'm not on his case, the bloke has enough problems trying to work out percentages  It was more about the above quote that got a few people's noses out of joint. I wasn't trying to be smart zedman, just pointing out that talking about the top 4 is pointless if 4th placed have no one to play in the finals!!

If so, what has been like?

He did the Plympton V Rosewater game on the weekend.
Would hope he hardens up a little.

2x25m due to the crowd
A player sent off for being too loud

And from two different accounts, was the hardest, roughest & dirtiest game he has ever umpired.
And I am sure all will agree who were present, there has been and will be better physical battles than the contest at Plympton on the weekend.

JP is from down our way, he plays cricket for us. He's a nice bloke but that all changed when I found out he was an umpire. We've had him a couple of times and he's been a bit whistle happy. He really trys to take control of the game and the crowd.

Was confirmed yesterday by Barry Oates that umpires cannot issue free kicks or 25m penalties against the "crowd". So why do Umpires think they can do this? This has happened before.

Haha those percentages are quite complicated.....always thought you divide the points against with the points for and times it by one hundred, oh well!
As I explained earlier that comment wasnt a shot at Hope Valley at all, was just a smart ass shot back at SD, didnt think it would turn into what it did! Lesson learnt :)

I think EddieV was talking about your B grade bench not the A grade. Was some great banter between the 2 benches in the A grade. One comment got me confused though when a come back from your bench was "At least we are not trying to get ourselves out off div 5" :? I thought most clubs playing in div 5 would want to get to div 4?
