made the pilgimmage again across 2 gulfs and saw the BDT v Peake match at Coonalpyn on Saturday. Completely one-sided match and have to say after seeing them and reading the scores throughout the year, that BDT would be $1.01 favourites for this years flag. The addition of a couple of good players to last years squad and the apparent non-improvement from the rest, plus throw in a new and very astute coach, and you have a side that seems to just click. Their guns are guns in the real sense of the word. If Keller didn't have 50 touches I'll go he, throw in a couple of Richardsons and several other bits of talent and there is the recipe for a flag. The West Coast connection just adds to it all. Understand they are the only "outsiders" in the team, which makes it just about a home grown outfit. Lot to like about that.

Nah mate. i was only ever a b grader, and only making up numbers at that! i havent played since round one last year, too old, too fat and too slow. i did manage to make it out to watch saturday though, however i ended up spending more time playing with my little one in the club rooms than watching the footy for obvious reasons!

They are a really good group out there, they just need to hang onto some of the recruits they get each year. usuallly by the end of the season they play some good footy cos they have had time to gel together, but then by next season they have virtually a completely new side. not sure what the secret is, maybe they will just have to wait and hang onto all the good kids they have coming through.

i dont think its 8 to come back in more like 3 or 4 i think but seeing them first hand sat they are just a class above, there skill level is what really stood out for me they just use the ball so well and they are so well drilled they know where to be and it gets delivered spot on.

Also there depth is amazing have a look at them when they do get injuries and blokes unavailable they still put out a super21 i just cant see anyone getting anywhere near them to be honest.

I was just going with that number after talking to slapey during the game. he was being rested and as he said to me, due to the forecast of rain! shearers dont work in the rain (his words!)

 He played accross half back on the weekend carey. Took a heavy knock late in the final term but should still play. Beates will be the one to stop I suspect, kicked 7 on the weekend and looks very dangerous! If Murrayville can continue to work hard up the ground and deliver well to this bloke he won't let them down.

Who are some of the good kids coming through Tipper?

theres a kid coming through that is going to be a gun cameron jacobs about 6ft 2 maybe, 16 year old center half forward/ruckmen hopfully will play his first A grade game this week i hope he does anyway. then there is lauchy wilson another kid who will go along way but we wont see much of him i dont think his at west u/18 where he was in the best and kicked 5 i think on saturday. mitchell richards will be a very handy player as will the gregurke (spelling?) lads but they are a few years off yet. there are a heap of other lads coming through aswell that i cant think of there names at the minute

arrr batesy yeah known the great man for a few years now very good footballer and an even better bloke thumping kick if he gets his hands on it generaly kicks a goal although he tells me today he didnt kick real staright on the weekend.

on the drew thing he just has a knack of killing peake! couple of years ago kicked 15 and murrayville lost then kicked 11 in a game i think last year and early this year kicked 10 goal 7 i think against peake at murrayville so nothing would surprise guess we can just hope if he does go forward drew and batesy run to the same spots and clash therfore having the two up there wont work. or even better our midfield get on top of yours and the ball doesnt go up there ;)

probably the biggets name would be jamie downs was an unreal junior capt of many state and samboy cup sides which were full of blokes that went on to play AFL but jamie was sturck down with i think 8 knee recon i believe now? his also an adelaide based WESTERN BULLDOGS scout these days, i also beleive he may be the youngest to play SANFL footy? not 100% about that but i remember hearing somthing like that. he played for peake again in 2007 on 1 leg and still managed some freakish marks, goals and some great games of footy.

also must mention the mullet he was runing dead ringer for jason donavon when he married kylie haha classic hence his fav. song being 'especially for you'
