Forgive my ignorance but im trying to get my head around how percentage is calculated on the premiership ladder

Hectorville are currently 1385 to 777 with a differance of 608 and a percentage of 64.1 whilst Brahma Lodge are 1497 to 894 with a difference of 603 and a percentage of 62.6. I dont understand how there is a difference between the scores of 5 points yet the percentage difference is 1.5 per cent. Does this mean that if (for arguments sake) Brahma played Heccies this week and beat them by 6 points they would have a superior percentage?

i believe it is total scored for divided by the sum of total for and against.
1385 / (1385+777) = 66.4ish - just roughly calcuated off the top of my head

Cant remember exactly how it is calculated but your % is higher when you have less points against as opposed to higher points for. This is why Heccies have a better %. (777 v's 894)

Thanks for that, im just used to the soccer way of calculating things...using the goal difference rather than percentage

Lower scores generally gain more percentage. Just say a team scores 50 to 25 it would be 66.6% compared to a team that scores 100 to 75 is 57.1%

heccies by 16 eliz were ok last week
hope valley by 18 dont know why
plympton by 26 all the talk was plympton and they havnt done alot
lodge by 48 smitty going ok but lodge differant side at home and my flag fav
lutheran by 28 cause its at home

Sorry, I've got no idea mate! Have been back at home ground since before the June Long weekend, I'll try to find out... It is a one-off this round i think, back home the following week against Plympton.
Not complaining tho fantastic facilities and a great ground to play footy at!
