They managed to redeem themselves in the second quarter to reduce the margin to a kick at half time. Then in the third quarter, they did enough to stay in the game coming home with the breeze. The last quarter started well with an early goal. Then to my amazement they put in a worse effort than the first quarter, with the only other goal they kicked in the quarter a gimme courtesy of Richard Williams.

On a side note, interesting to see Sturt update their club song again (wasn't the previous update only 5-6 years ago?)

How very gracious of you Bruce

I am fairly certain Salim Hassan kicked the last Sturt goal. Richard Williams would have been NO chance kicking into that wind

From a North supporters point of view the simple fact that Sturt have beaten the dogs twice this season plus the bays (should have been twice too!) shows that they are far more deserving to be battling West for the 5th spot than North are.

Hopefully this week will kill off any more crazy talk that North might make it!

I think Bruce is referring to the gimme his own side kicked, courtesy of Dick.

Nevertheless, his post did have a "Sturt didn't win it, Central lost it" overtone......

How long until the first airing of the 'Roy's ramped the training up' line?

I prefer the "the guys are just trying to increase the premiership odds before they place their bets" line. ;)

Time will tell!!

We have issues backing up after beating anybody!
Hopefully the two negatives equal a positive next week.

Bloody great stuff. It sounded as though the Dogs were going to chase that lead down in the final quarter, so it was very satisfying to withstand the charge and then begin creating our own chances for goal into the breeze.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Serious question for a change. Are the SANFL players as regulated in their betting on games as their overpaid mates in the AFL are? Are there any restrictions at all?

blues2002 wrote:Wow, looking at Round 23, what a perfect set of matchups:

Central District v Glenelg (Elizabeth)
Most likely be the battle for top spot. Hard hitout pre finals, deserves an 8000+ crowd.

Norwood v West Adelaide (Norwood)
Eagles v Sturt (Woodville)
All four teams playing to finish anywhere from 3rd to 7th.

Port Magpies v North Adelaide (Alberton)
Maybe one of these teams will have a mathematical chance to make the finals. I'd consider going just to see devilsadvocate get angry about being robbed again by that cheating umpire they had today (I hope he gets the job for this rematch).

I didn't say we were robbed. Port lost the game with an inept performance. That cheating little prick just made the margin bigger.

The SANFL should be embarrassed by his incompetence.

Centrals, that was crap yesterday, played like it was still 1977. Couldn't mark, couldn't kick to a teammate, slow, luckily it was only Sturt or We would have been seriously embarrassed. ;) :)

good to see The Ressies knock off the top side, I said a cuppla weeks ago that The 'Dogs ressies are on the way back! The depth is returning, a good sign for October.

IMHO I reckon most sides have been below par the whole season... Westies have definitely improved, South's effort and application seems to be better apart from the odd blip plus Norwood have improved... but the other 6, pretty average I think.

the only game that I was completely happy with was the CD v Norf game at Elizabeff, We smashed them in the 1st half, the 2nd half was awful due to the weather.

Roy said on the ABC a couple weeks ago after the Glenelg game they would be training flat out during their bye week, and use their last bye to freshen up.

didn't you know? We're all on the dole up here in Elizabeth, all on welfare too. But wait! where do all those old farts that live in Norwood get their pensions from? Not Government assistance, surely not!
