People who have big weekends and then pull sickies for the first 2 days of the following week just at the busiest time of the year
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

That's right a lot easier to clean up in the bath than on carpet. My cat has done it a couple of times and while you might get pissed off at first it could be a lot worse.

Give them an incentive not to use it or just pay them out the notice period. Problem solvered. :D :D

perhaps, there needs to be a system in that when you resign or leave for whatever reasons you get 50% of any sick leave that the person has accrued, so then when they give notice they dont spend the remaining time on sick leave.

Mum I must say that if I had a cat that crapped in the bath, not once but twice, I would be like your headset, well and truly snapped by now.

You've gotta be kidding! An incentive to "do the right thing", give me a break.
Pay them out is fine, but when you are busy it's not that easy sometimes and how about the old adage of "not burning your bridges". He won't want to come back knocking on the door if it doesn't work out, he may get told "thanks but no thanks"!

Keepyour head in the sand if you like but the reality is many people nowadays view personal leave(sick leave) as an entitlement. So unless they have this paid out upon seperation they feel as though they should take it if leaving a job or they have not taken what they feel is theirs.

Many businesses now pay all or some of accrued personal leave out upon seperation, unless it is for summary dismissal. It certainly helps when someone is going and they don't spend their notice period on the sick list.

exactly, workers will be trying to get paid out as much sick pay as they can if they dont have an agreement upon leaving. and I would be, because currently if I was to take sick leave I lose upto 30% of my wage.

She crapped in the laundry trough too, I've just discovered. BUT as FC says, it could have been a lot worse, so I will cheer up. :)
