Units where my tip for the flag at the start of year. Just needed time to gel into very good football side!

They played well today (and obviously the past month), credit where its due. Looking forward to the rest of the season in what is a very tight comp. Hopefully we can perform better at the business end.

Disappointed at the minute........but keen to atone. Fortunately we still have the chance to do so.

I caught the SHOCS Flinders game today which was played in perfect conditions. The sixth placed hearts did what was expected convincingly defeated the winless crabs.

With their Div 1 and Div 1R sides placed 3rd and 1st respectively, I watched a SCOCS team with a number quality footballers who can either no longer crack the higher grades or are on the bubble for their undefeated B grade side. The remainder clearly benefit from playing and training in the same system and it maximises their talents. The team play is disciplined and team oriented. Their midfield brigade controlled the game despite losing the ruck battle. Their big full forward dominated the first quarter kicking five goals, but after Flinders switched to a quick young defender, who gave up 30+ kilos and atleast 15cms in height, his dominance was no more. Sure, he did manage a few goals in the last, but the Flinders midfield had long stopped helping out the defenders and goals were a plenty.

For the losing side, the second quarter, which they won, they demonstrated the ability to match it with the tops sides. However, the first, third and fourth quarters clearly demonstrated why they have been smashed by Athlestone and Central United. It does not bode well for next week when they reportedly will lose 11 guys who are heading home for the uni holidays.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

Maybe Mawson Lakes should concentrate on getting the ball rather then trying to intimidate the opposition physically.

To be honest we played pretty bad, a couple of us especially had terrible days having said that the lads never gave up and there were some good signs shown.
As for Bench Coach i think you should get over yourself, im sure Athelstone are not angels when it comes to the physical stuff.
As for the umps im just glad there was an umpiries offical there to witness some of the calls they made.

3/5. Use to be easy getting 5s :(

The Mawson Lakes Saints ventured to Athelstone on Saturday to take on their 'Bogey' Side. The Raggies traditionally have enjoyed success when coming up against the Saints and Saturday was to be no different.

Things couldn't get off to a worse start for the Saints when Athelstone's Matthew Schibani goaled early after a strong mark. The quater got progressively got darker for the Saints with the dominance of Schibani, Mal Grossman, former Geelong listed player Stephen Carr and Jason Bielak combined with an umpire trying to break the World Record for most 25 metre penalties in a quarter, saw the Saints down 7 goals to 1 at the first break. The stuffing had been taken out of the contest, and while Mawson Lakes fought back during the rest of the match, the game had been broken in the first term. For the Saints onballers Lachlan Kennett and Rob O'Gorman worked tirelessly, Ruckman Glenn Mackie took several good marks around the ground, while Ivan Novosel fought hard for his 4 goals. Perhaps the only positive for the Saints, was the use of new recruit and Fire-Man 'Calender boy' Shane Stanley aka Mr.September being used in defence. Mawson Lakes finished with more 'Inside 50s' than their opponent, but the killer statistic apart from the scoreboard was the eleven 25 metre penalties given away by the Saints with most resulting in majors for the Raggies. Athelstone had it's best players Schibani and Bielak each finishing with 6 goals while the class of Carr and Grossman stood out in a performance worthy of putting other teams on notice of why they were a pre season fancy for the flag. Mawson Lakes will need a big effort on Saturday against Angle Vale to get out of it's current slump and avoid it's losing streak to stretch to five.

Can i also ad having been to my first ever game involving Central United (who are a very good side) their supporters were..... :(|)
I thought i was walking through Elizabeth shopping centre with the amount of pregnant looking 16-20 year olds. I thought the way they dropped their empty VB cans wherever they finished them was a nice touch to go with their many verbal requests for the players to 'knock players teeth out'
Eddie Maguire should try going to one of their games if he think AAMI stadium is scary.
