Hogg Premier Round 10

darcy DTF vs Buddy&TheBoys
FOOTYLEDGENS vs Boxheads Beauties
The Quiddities vs Poon Army
Chicky's Crusaders vs Squeakeroos
Darksiders SCE vs chardy socialists
dunKsKrew vs Hawkeye
REBCats vs GordonBlue
Brown nosed Fev vs The Ginger Ninjas

After racking up a huge score and losing last week I get myself 5hitburger to eat when I play another side I can't beat GordonBlue in this week's Hogg Premier match of the round. Gordon won the first seven matches of the season but has lost the last two matches so there goes my chance of him preserving trades and giving me a sniff this week. Yep, I'm tipping a second straight loss for the REBCats in Hogg Premier.

Chicky's Crusaders have been on the nose for several weeks now however they managed to move from 8th to 7th even though they got done last week. This week they will lose to Squeakeroos in a match that may prove to be decisive for both teams - the loser of this one would be pretty lucky to remain in the top eight considering this week's match ups. Almost as decisive is the match between the Poon and the Q.Man. Both sides score very well but find themselves with the unflattering scoreline of 3-6 after nine rounds. There is only room for one of them in the top eight and on current form I'm tipping that the side to stay alive for another week will be Poon Army. Two teams that are practically brothers in the way that they can do anything and nothing are dunKsKrew and Hawkeye. Both sides have Jack Riewoldt and that was the winning factor for them both against more highly ranked opposition last week but I reckon Hawkeye normally only fires against me so I'm tipping dunKs to win this match.

Buddy just won't go away this season despite being fairly underwhelming for the majority of it. However, he is really going to have to pull something out of his rear end to defeat the highest ranked team in the entire Hogg, darcy DTF. Of course, he can't so Buddy will have to wait another week in the bottom half of the ladder. Boxhead is having his best ever season in the Hogg and FOOTYLEDGENS are having their worst so it looks like another win to the Beauties this week. Darksiders will make mincemeat out of the chardies and Gingernuts can get a much needed win against bottom placed Fev.

Q vs Poon Army

I've got O'Keefe/Goodes/L Davis still to play, while Poon is 76 points up with O'Keefe/Malceski/Tippett.

ROUND 10

Results
darcy DTF 2114 Buddy 1764
FOOTYLEDGENS 2067 Boxhead 1937
Poon Army 2218 Q Man 1948
Chicky's Crusaders 2000 Squeaky 1895
Darksiders SCE 2127 chardy 1972
dunKsKrew 2126 Hawkeye 1975
REBCats 2069 Gordon 2047
The Ginger Ninjas 1964 Fevnose 1609

Darksiders and darcy have been the best teams all year long but it has taken 10 rounds of fantasy football before these two teams have risen to their rightful positions on the Hogg Premier Ladder. Both enjoyed pretty one sided wins taking advantage of GordonBlue's third straight loss and Boxhead's unexpected loss to FOOTYLEDGENS.

In an utterely tragic result poor old Woggy was defeated by dunKsKrew in a result I didn't enjoy at all (heh heh) and Chicky's Crusaders pulled out of their mid season funk to defend their spot in the eight. That spot in the eight is under threat too with Ginger Ninjas and FOOTYLEDGENS winning on the weekend.

The last word here has to go to regular Premier League thread correspondent Q Man who has been stoically displaying all of the blind optimism of Panthers fan in March when it was clear to nearly anyone who looked that he was GAWNSKI against the Poon Army. There's always next year my good man!

Hogg Premier Round 11

darcy DTF vs Boxheads Beauties
FOOTYLEDGENS vs Buddy&TheBoys
The Quiddities vs Squeakeroos
Chicky's Crusaders vs Poon Army
Darksiders SCE vs Hawkeye
dunKsKrew vs chardy socialists
REBCats vs The Ginger Ninjas
Brown nosed Fev vs GordonBlue

43 SECONDS TO LOCK OUT ARRRRRRRGH EXTREME BLOODY HELL!

darcy and Boxheads square off the match of the round and what can I say but all the way with darcy ay! I'm hoping the Sandgroper puts the box out of the top four so the REBCats can dance right in. The other gun side Darksiders should add a 10th scalp to his bulging belt of victories as he cleans up the master of disaster Hawkeye.

GordonBlue should have no trouble wasting his fellow Carltonian to get back on the winners list after a barren month and my REBCats will prove the master of all Ninjas Ginger with my powerfull new midfield!! YEAH. Poon Army will stay alive for another week as Chicky misses a chance to put him away and FOOTYLEDGENS will put the Kibosh on Buddy&TheBoys.

dunKsKrew will salute and consolidate their place in the top eight and Squeakeroos will win the who cares cup down there in the bottom half of the ladder as the Q Man is poison.

ROUND 11

Results

darcy DTF 2278 Boxhead 2133
FOOTYLEDGENS 2066 Buddy 1923
The Quiddities 2270 Squeaky 2164
Chicky's Crusaders 2172 Poon 2092
Darksiders SCE 2275 Hawkeye 1872
dunKsKrew 2002 chardy 1996
REBCats 2331 Ginge 2126
GordonBlue 2109 Fevnose 1911

Boxhead's Beaties paid the price for last week's upset at the hands of FOOTYLEDGENS when they were unable to defeat darcy DTF in the Hogg Premier match of the round. REBCats took advantage of this lapse by defeating an injury hit Gingernuts who had Barlow AND Ziebell which was even more decisive.

Pup's Crusaders became a much more likely finalist as the 2008 champion defeated the 2007 champion Poon Army by 80 points. At 4-7 Poon will be an unlikely finalist in what has been his worst ever Hogg Shield season. Hawkeye is the vulnerable team in the eight after suffering a second straight loss, this time to the competition leader Darksiders who just keep on rolling em in Hogg Premier and is the team to avoid in August.

The team most likely after recent matches is now FOOTYLEDGENS who cleaned up a very average Buddy&TheBoys who had Buddy Franklin on the bench for some reason. Now that sort of 5hit is just crying out for relegation so there is something to play for for Fevnose and the chardys in the relegation 'final' in Round 19 as 15th might get through this year.

Q Man got back on the winner's list in a win that probably won't do him all that much good but GordonBlue's win will do him wonders as he plays second ranked darcy next week. dunKsKrew pulled off a very lucky six point win against the lowly chardys in a match that could well make a difference between playing in the finals or not this season.

You are still in the relegation zone. The bottom four teams will play off for the right to remain in Premier League in Round 19.

13th vs. 16th
14th vs. 15th

If the ladder remains as it now stands you would have to beat Brown Nosed Fev to remain in Hogg Premier.

If you've given up on finals try and avoid relegation. Keep two trades free for Round 19. You should be able to defeat Fevnose if you can't sneak into the top 12. Keep an eye on Fevnose's scoring. If it starts going up it means he has trades up his sleeve and whoever finishes in 13th should start worrying. Sounds like you are off to a good start on that score ha ha.

The Run Home

So....you think you are gonna make the Hogg Premier finals??

ROUND 12
darcy DTF vs GordonBlue
FOOTYLEDGENS vs The Ginger Ninjas
The Quiddities vs chardy socialists
Chicky's Crusaders vs Hawkeye
Darksiders SCEvs Poon Army
dunKsKrewvs Squeakeroos
REBCats vs Buddy&TheBoys
Brown nosed Fev vs Boxheads Beauties

ROUND 13
darcy DTF vs The Ginger Ninjas
FOOTYLEDGENS vs GordonBlue
The Quiddities vs Hawkeye
Chicky's Crusaders vs chardy socialists
Darksiders SCE vs Squeakeroos
dunKsKrew vs Poon Army
REBCats vs Boxheads Beauties
Brown nosed Fev vs Buddy&TheBoys

ROUND 14
darcy DTF vs chardy socialists
FOOTYLEDGENS vs Hawkeye
The Quiddities vs GordonBlue
Chicky's Crusaders vs The Ginger Ninjas
Darksiders SCE vs Buddy&TheBoys
dunKsKrew vs Boxheads Beauties
REBCats vs Poon Army
Brown nosed Fev vs Squeakeroos

ROUND 15
darcy DTF vs Hawkeye
FOOTYLEDGENS vs chardy socialists
The Quiddities vs The Ginger Ninjas
Chicky's Crusaders vs GordonBlue
Darksiders SCE vs Boxheads Beauties
dunKsKrew vs Buddy&TheBoys
REBCats vs Squeakeroos
Brown nosed Fev vs Poon Army

The Contenders

1. Darksiders SCE (40)

Safe as houses and should be the minor premier. Would need to lose to Poon Army and Boxhead's Beauties to lose top spot.

2. darcy DTF (32)

Has a tough match this week but should win a minimum of three from here and hang on to second.

3. GordonBlue (32)

Probably won’t win this week but will win his last three to hang on to third for a rematch with darcy in the finals.

4. REBCats (32)

Should win at least three and hang on to a top four spot. A win against Boxhead will secure a top four spot so a vital match for both teams.

5. Boxhead's Beauties (28)

Has fallen off the pace in recent weeks and needs to beat REBCats to be any chance of taking a top four spot. Even if they do they face Darksiders SCE in Round 15 so it looks likely that Boxhead will finish 5th.

6. Chicky's Crusaders (24)

Pup has a pretty good run home with only GordonBlue being a toughie in the last four matches. The Crusaders can make the finals if they win two key clashes, next week against Hawkeye and against FOOTYLEDGENS in Round 14. I reckon Pup can win at least two matches and I reckon they might be the next two. 6th looks about right for Chicky's Crusaders.

7. dunKsKrew (24)

dunKsKrew is a notoriously unpredictable side so I expect them to win two of their last four matches to qualify in 7th but which two matches they might win will remain a complete mystery. On ‘paper’ they would appear to be this week’s game against Squeakeroos and the Round 15 match against Buddy&TheBoys. They could also go 4-zip or zip-4 as well. Even if he wins three it still looks like a week one finals appointment with Chicky's Crusaders.

8. Hawkeye (24)

Hawkeye is the most vulnerable side in the top eight at the moment and the side that The Ginger Ninjas and FOOTYLEDGENS are watching at the moment. Hawkeye starts the last month with a crucial clash against Chicky's Crusaders and plays contenders right the way through this period and he finishes with a tough match up against darcy DTF. I can only see him winning one of the last four (and Q man is not without a chance in that game either) which means Hawkeye will probably miss the eight.

9. The Ginger Ninjas (20)

Gingernuts has a pretty tough run home with this week’s game against FOOTYLEDGENS an absolute must win. A win against the Cub will end Cub’s year and possibly vault Ginge into the top eight for the first time in many weeks. Even if he wins this though matches against darcy DTF and Chicky's Crusaders await. Like Hawkeye, I reckon he can only win one more and that The Ginger Ninjas will miss the eight.

10. FOOTYLEDGENS (20)

Cub has won the last two matches with the round 10 win against Boxhead's Beauties throwing FOOTYLEDGENS a lifeline this season. A win over The Ginger Ninjas this week could see Cubby in the top eight. If he gets past Gingernuts I can see Cubby winning three matches to finish on eight wins and qualifying for the finals with a rematch against the very team that opened the door him.

REB’s first week of Hogg Premier Finals Prediction

Qualifying Finals

Darksiders SCE vs. REBCats
darcy DTF vs. GordonBlue

Elimination Finals

Boxhead's Beauties vs. FOOTYLEDGENS
Chicky's Crusaders vs. dunKsKrew
