Didn't think he necessarily did enough with Westies to earn a recall, but great to see Porplyzia back and playing the quality footy the AFL world has become used to seeing from him.

Yeah, i thought he was ok. Got his hands on the footy a bit, which is something he hadnt been doing the last few weeks.

Adelaide must win all of their remaining games and rely on results going their way to sneak into 8th. Whilst not out of the question but it will be difficult.

I think one of the keys to this was Neil played him on the ball. He has been changing on the ball throughout the year but it looked like something clicked. Could be the turning game of the season for porpy. [-o<

Fantastic 4 qtr effort by the lads. right from the first bounce our pressure on the ball carrier was there and our skills were on. Promising signs came from Henderson, he has pace, height and his kicking action looks sound. He will only improve. Sloane again just did everything right, Dangerfield showed his power and strength, Tip and Tex were good up forward and Davis continues to prove he will be a solid CHB in years to come. I think they said at stages our Ave Age in the FWD line was 21. Not bad signs for the future.

As for finals, doubtful but winning as many games as possible is important for the younger guys development and you never know we may scrape in.

it is amazing what can happen when the confidence comes back in to a game plan. i really like jaensch at the moment. provides a good contest but is at the feet of the bigs guys when the ball comes in long (which is about time).

Yes i forgot Jeansch, i think he suits the small forward role better than Douglas, who has stepped up his game and is good with clearances. Hopefully Porpas can continue to improve and finsih the year well get a pre season under his belt next year.

Confidence is a massive thing in football, it allows you to get hold of a game early (as we did this week) and control the tempo. We seem like we have more confidence going forward also.

i think that is the key thing with "the porpas". one solid pre season under his belt and i think he can even exceed his great 2009 season. very unlucky with injury this year, just hasnt been able to get going.

Douglas is an interesting one .. I've been very anti-him before, but you can't question the improvement in his game, the funny thing is, if he could dispose of the ball better he could be a seriously good footballer, but it still lets him down quite often.

A mate asked me the other day how the Crows B&F would be looking at this stage and I'd guess it would be something like Goodwin from Douglas, reasonable thought?

Yeah i have always thought Douglas was a player that needed to be in the team, but the gap between his good games and bad games were massive. IMO he has become more consistant and showed improvement in a lot of areas, yes his disposal can let him down but they same can be said for a few in the team. I think he will be top 5 in the B&F for sure, Thompson will get some votes, Goody favourite i think, Rutten has had a good solid year again also.

This was the Top 5 I gave at the time (basically prior to the Essendon game):

Goodwin
Rutten
Thompson
McKay
Johncock
(maybe McLeod)

I must admit I had forgotten about Douglas in my thinking at the time, but reckon he would be sitting in the 5 at the moment.

Douglas in place of Rutten is my idea.

Took Mrs Choccies and Junior Choccie to the game and had a great time watching the future of the club on show. Was very impressed with Davis, he is cool under pressure, reads the play well and rarely misses a target. Henderson also impressed me and if he hadn't dropped a couple of sitters he could have had 5 or 6. Has great pace too for a big lad. Sloane again just kept hunting the ball and the poor form that engulfed the entire team earlier in the year appears to have been replaced with some renewed enthusiasm.

Was very happy at the end of the night as was Junior Choccie as he memorised every chant produced by the cheer squad. Was singing 'Danger' to the tune of 'Thunderstruck' on the way home as well as this little tune to the saints song "Oh Adelaide, is wonderful, Oh Adelaide is wonderful. Its full of beer, chicks and football, oh Adelaide is wonderful' ;)
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.
