Round 15 - Panthers v Glenelg @ Noarlunga 2.10pm Sun 4 July

Postby GWW » Sun Jun 27, 2010 9:10 pm

The Bays after some recent 4th quarter fadeouts will be looking at playing 4 quarters of football this week against the lowly Panthers. Ron Fuller's team will be keen to avoid another big loss, but i think Glenelg can win by about 10 goals.

Glenelg should win by plenty, no doubt. Last year IIRC South were a bit of a bogey team for the Bays and "travelling" two weeks in a row might not be helpful (Elizabeth followed by Noarlunga). Is there any chance that this game could be closer than 10 goals? Playing at Noarlunga in July, I cant imagine that 10 goal victories would be too common down there at this time of year.

Every chance the margin will be less than 10 goals. South is one team which has always given
Glenelg a run for its money in recent years. Will be interested to see what the points-spread offered on this game is. Bays to win, but consider South on the points.

south have to bounce back with a Competitive effort this week. To regain some of the respect we were starting to develop over the first 11 weeks of the season as a competitive unit which you need to be before you can start winning consisently over a long period of time or all the hard work put in over the first 11 weeks we go to complete waste in two weeks. I am more confident of winning after a big thrasing than the previous years because the team was putting in the effort in the first 11 weeks and it took this side 12 games in to be beaten over 10 goals.

As a South fan i am hoping for a 2008 repeat we were on a 8 game losing streak just got destroy the week before by Sturt at unley by 70 points with a worst team. The next week at the Bay we defeat glenleg by 13 points after they won 12 matches in a row . The best victory by a south side in the last 10 years besides the Elimation final win against port

The best win besides the elimination final win, and almost better for me was the final minor round game against the Bays in 2006. Winner made the finals, loser was gonzo. Gee I enjoyed that night......Bit sad though that I have to hang my hat on a game already 4 years ago and nothing in between to savour, I just love following SA.... :?

The Bays by stacks, unfortunately for South, as the season draws to an end for them, they seem to lose interest & invariably get smashed.

Peter Rolfe dropped. Didn't see that coming  (although I didn't attend last Saturday's debacle)

He's not in his richest vein of form (20 goals for the year though), but still is our second most dangerous fwd and the only real crumbing fwd we have. :-k

Odd.

Rolfe wouldnt be in my thoughts as someone to drop

We need players who know where the goals are and can put a score on the board, there are a couple of others who must be just hanging by their toenails at the moment, trouble is, there is no one pushing them for their spot.

Will be interesting to see who kicks the goals now, Ben Warren is due for a bag after being held scoreless in his last two outings, Andrew Horne is capable, the big Cocky is always handy and McKernan is desperate to get involved again, so hopefully goals will come and the Bays will trudge off down the hill and go away.
I wish my remembering was as good as my forgetting

Rolfes effort was shocking on the weekend but it seems to be a stupid move.

He has been playing to close to goal, He does his best work up around half forward and should be rotated through the midfield.

However mentally he appears to be floating through the year rather than pushing himself.

It always amazes me why coaches need to drop players who have talent to try and get the best out of them.

PS Mark Williams play Salter and Broadbent as they have the talent - woops wrong competition

I do not have a problem with Rolfe getting dropped to the ressies.

After watching that crap last week....I think its a good move. He is not he only one though I would be looking at though. :?

Good result for the Bays today. We now sit fourth based on percentage. if we want to achieve the double chance tomorrow is a must win game. Got to come out fired up committed to a full four quarter effort.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
