No clothes dryer.

And don't like the socks' 'texture' after being microwaved.

Toughen up! Even on freezing cold nights I love jumping into a bed with nice crisp fresh icy cold sheets... :)

I've had the air conditioning on full time since mid May, but I turn it down to 16 or 17 at low speed overnight.
Of course it is 3-4 degrees cooler than Adelaide up here and it is the only heating I have that does the whole house.
It seems to run less that way than letting the house freeze up overnight then have to heat up again, and the solid brick walls work as a heat bank to some extent.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to have 3 of your girlfriends in bed at the same time keeping you warm ?

Possibly, but, as I said in this or other threads, I've only got two right now and I've recently had Prostate surgery. ;)

I hope the surgery was a success.
Being a doctor, did you do the test yourself?

I'm fine and can regard myself as cured of Prostate cancer.
I'll bother to describe this process in more detail than needed to just answer your question to warn others of the pitfalls in the whole business.

While I was between GPs and moving I ordered my own PSAs and went to a Gribbles for sampling - once I'd got settled here I picked a GP, who was ordering them for me.
My experience is that you need to push GPs a bit about going beyond routine blood tests - there is a tendency to put off further tests until the PSA, or whatever else is being screened for other conditions, really goes up. [Medicare Australia monitors GPs and chats them for what MA calls "excessive" prescribing or ordering - and that makes them conservative.]
None of my GPs ever actually put on a glove and felt my Prostate, and I hadn't pushed them too because it is not a pleasant experience.

But, as I knew the Prostate was getting larger, I requested a referral to a General Physician I had studied with, whom I knew would not favour letting it drift or be intimidated by Medicare..
He examined it and was concerned, and arranged an Ultrasound at Radiology SA, where my being a doctor meant I got to go out the back with the doctors and look at the pictures coming up on on their laptops.
At that point, I asked them who they thought was the best Urologist in SA, figuring they get to see the outcomes, and then got my Physician mate to send me to him.
When the PSA jumped up a notch suddenly in March the Urologist did a biopsy and found traces of cancer, so I didn't muck around and had the gland removed.

There was a small low virulence cancer but it was entirely within the gland and it is all removed successfully.
My PSA was never high enough to strongly suggest cancer, but it was there and we found it early - it pays to push for early follow up.
The advantage of my being a doctor was that I knew which buttons to push and whom to ask which questions - and I had an attitude that ensured I had private cover and could get what I wanted fast with the surgeon of my choice.

In some settings the system may not have offered me a biopsy with a relatively low PSA, and even after diagnosis may have suggested conservative management.
I could have been expected not to get any secondary cancers for up to 10 years without any treatment, and for up to 15 to 18 years with surgery via the Urethra [TURP] and Radiotherapy.
As it stands I am now all clear and there is almost certainly no further risk - ever - which feels a better option to me..

Australia is sliding towards a UK style health care system which allows health care to be rationed to contain cost, and that gives me the shits.
I am grateful that I am protected against that trend by my training and my insurance.
