In rain, then hail, then rain then sun the devs got up over Blackwood using what I saw as better legs. The Woods got the jump at the start and Lofty's inaccurate kicking (again) threatened to cost them a blow out loss but they stuck with it and FINALLY let a couple of ex-forwards wander up from their now customary backline jobs. 8 goals 18 meant that in the end Lofty really could have buried Blackwood in the 3rd, they had a lot of the play. Lofty just lacks that genuine 50-goal target that could have them pushing for a flag but with the way they kicked it'll be hard. Skill and determination there for most of the time though. A bald bloke for blackwood was very handy and took a lot of grabs. Cobb again given free reign and does it well except for the choke shot on goal that cost them the game.
B grade was a cracker too.

I think bridgy being only 2 games out of the 5 is a bit misleading, hasn't their second round of matches consisted of a 3-goal win over Loby and getting smashed by an Onkas side that is barely hanging onto the last finals spot? I agree that it'll be a VERY interesting finals series, even if (and I can't see it being any different) Barker go undefeated, with the primary interest being whether or not Ironbank can get that one extra win than Onkas to get them into the 5. They've made the first step by beating Onkas. The Devs going to Thunder park in 2 weeks could make a difference...

Saw a very interesting game at Uraidla on Saturday. Only saw a few minutes of the first half where Mt barker were up by 6 or 7 goal. 2nd half was much closer with Uraidla probably having the better of it. They played the 3rd quarter with 17 men because of 2 yellow cards. Mt barker were very impressive and are the favourite for the flag easy, but Uraidla would take a lot out of the game with both sides still having a few people missing. Although both sides were not impressed with the umpires I thought they were ok because they let play run and gave minimal free kicks. Maybe the only disappointing part was the soft free s paid from nowhere by the young umpire and some stages but all in all a very physical game with high intensity, which was a pleasure to watch. Would be interested with both sides point of view from the game as there was no love lost between either sides or their fans.

And with Mt lofty getting up it sets the scene for an interesting finals series with Mt barker heavy favourites but Blackwood Uri and lofty will all give them selves a chance.

That would be Simon McCormick. Yeah, top midfielder but since our bigger forwards went down he's been moved around a lot more between midfield and the forward lines.
Have to admit that Mt Lofty had our measure in both the A's and B's on Saturday, they worked their ground a lot better and kicked long to good targets on a soft ground to keep the ball moving. The key factor that got Lofty over the line in both games was their hunger for the ball. On paper I though Blackwood would have been the stronger side but Lofty's skill level was exemplary and they wanted the ball that much more. Lofty are certainly missing a few forwards to really make opposition sides sweat on the scoreboard but if they keep up their confidence and continue playing the way they did on the weekend, they could do a bit of damage come finals time.
As for Blackwood, disappointing game for them but glad to get the compulsory 'upset game' out of the way which they seem to have at least one of every year (remember Birdwood at Blackwood oval last year )... It will be interesting to see how they will perform against Uraidla and Mt Barker in the next few weeks.

Very physical game that was more or less won after Barkers scoreboard pressure from 1st Q -even contest after that. Uraidla's 2 yellow cards deserved & lucky not to get another when Block was knocked out on boundry line. Was just a firey clash between 2 top sides. Country footy at its best & high quality game to watch.

haha i hope u r not serious mate cause they were a joke giving crads in a game like that where both teams are giving as good as they get. didnt see u boys wanting a yellow card when tudor-tsourts went down with a late elbow to the face. but yes a very firely clash non the less. the real sad part of the day was the abuse sent out by ur A grade coach while he was goal umpiring under 15 game. cause that was disgracful.

Mount Barker coach and runner are a good pair both very cocky but I have a feeling Karma will get them both before the year is over. I agree they are a good side but they will fall at the last or second last hurdle in my opinion.

Yes mate, serious that the incidents were worthy of yellow cards. I agree though that sometimes its best the umps leave the cards in their pocket, cause they always miss more than they catch. Cards have too bigger influence on a game IMO as every umps tollorence is different.

Heard about the U15 game & totally agree its sad when any spectator, none less a senior coach, has a crack at a kid - NOT ON.

Onkas hardly even smashed you, whats 10 straight kicks between mates anyway. Plus i know after our game Both the Roos and Uraidla were only thinking about how they are going to stop the momentous freight train that is Bridgewater.
You told us the Raiders would do it for their couch so whats the story? Seems like your the only won with any heart around the club.
Hopefully with all these business trips we'll finally see the expansion of the Vaughan day care centre and you can fund a good side on the park in the coming years.

I think that V was the only one that didn't see Bridgey finishing near the bottom at season's start.
June 30th having come and gone, is there any news on TV's attempt to join div 1?

TV have not withdrawn their application to come to Central Div next year and therefore will be. Looks like Birdwood are in the relegation seat and it'll probably remain that way. For the sake of the competition I hope Central doesn't become an 11 team division. Seems silly to change things to suit one club only. What we've got now is perfect.

The word is Central will be 10 teams... unless clubs are silly enough to vote for an 11 team comp. Country Div can already say goodbye to TV and with the very likely possibility of Callington going to C grade I'm sure Counrty Div would like a replacement to keep the comp strong. I'm sure the Country Div clubs aren't silly enough to vote for an 11 team Central comp which would effectively weaken their own comp. I've heard of a small number of Central Div clubs will vote for 11 teams but it seems these people have links or are mates with the two likely teams to be relegated.
