I must say why the hell i went and paid the gate fee I shall never know. I just really enjoy getting succumbed to performances like this.....really caps off my week!!!
I can handle losing if we have a genuine dig at the game but today it was very well evident we had zero interest to be at Unley today and utterly embarrassed oursleves to our members, supporters and the general SANFL football public.

Just when you think there is light at the end of the tunnel - the team dishes out this s**t.

I could not find 1 player worthy of a award today. It was hard to find any best players at all that had a real "fire in their belly" and have a genuine crack at the game.
The body langauge from some of the players was bloody embarrassing......so was the endeavour, drive and motovation. You could see it on the players at half time they were ready to get changed and go have a drink at a pub somewhere!!!

The sad thing for South is this....we have absolutely no depth at all. Look at the reserves score and under 18's on the ladder. Its not good.
We have players out there that are not up to the standards of SANFL league football.
We keep talking about recruiting from the Southern Football league but lets be honest.....I think we have to look elsewhere.

Sturt were great today. Hard at the ball, fierce in their tackling and made us look very second rate (which we are!!)

To all Sturt supporters , I feel sorry for you guys to have to pay and watch that!!!

We have a long long way to go....and I dont see light at the end of the tunnel for a while yet.

Glenelg next week....God, help us please!!!! :Hangman:

hang in there man, if you barrack for South, your club will respect you for that & eventually it will pay off for you,. oi

Mate , Ive been hanging on for soooo many years.....and after today I will be hanging for soooo much more. Thanks anyway mate :)
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Wow Centurion, there was no jibe or sarcasm to be detected whatsoever, and actual heartfelt understanding and compassion! Are you running a fever?
I'll back up those sentiments southee, you've got a good area down south and it will take time, look at Centrals and base it around that. ;)

Cutterman, the sad thing is South have been talking for years about the "great" area we have down South. Personally, I dont think there are many players up to the standand of SANFL football or the ones that do have talent are happy playing for their local club.
South need to look and get the right mix of a few local players and pay for some that fit the type of player we need.

I love My club & I love winning...but I also know how shitty it feels to be in a South supporter's position. Even more so, I feel, We promised sooo much for sooo long, making 5th spot over & over, just to fail constantly. I used to watch the GF & get a bit teary, especially when the game was over & they played The Hunters & Collectors Holy Grail. I love to be the victor....but I do feel for the constantly disappointed & let-down. like Glenelg ;)

Should've won by 250 points. Hope Normo drags the players out for a 5am session tomorrow to teach them a lesson and swings the axe on selection night.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Nice % boost.
Or was it?
...and 1st 100+ margin this year..

Sturt 61.52
South 24.18

Bloody pathetic display by the 3 grades of the SAFC today

No depth to put pressure on those above.

To be honest South have been giving league games to some blokes this year that would not get a game for any other clubs reserves teams. Its fine to give young lads from the juniors a run in the reserves, they need players around them that can give them something to learn from, not just one error after the other.

As far as I can see there is nothing at the moment down in the Southern area that South can call on to bolster their stocks.

Who ever is responsible for recruiting players needs to be given instructions from someone who knows football and knows talent when they see it, the club cannot keep serving up cr@p like they did today.

You could say this has been South Adelaides problem for 70 years.
Most clubs have a period of downtime for 5,10 or 15 years but South have been a very poor club for so long.
You can't keep blaming the southern area or recruiting.

I agree with you Smithy, we have been poor for a very long time, with touches of glimmer thrown in.

If its not the southern area or recruiting where does the problem lie in your opinion?

Everyone would like to know the answer.

I'm not sure mate and my comment wasn't meant to be nasty, and I can see you didn't take it that way.
I lived a stones throw away from Noarlunga Oval for most of my life and played a bit of sport in the area.
Youngsters playing footy in the SFl or GSFL don't care how good south are if they want to try and make a living out of footy and play AFL.
From what I gather they just aren't handled that well when entering the SAFC system.
Not my opinion, just what I am hearing.
But for every disillusioned kid there is a Ben Warren also.

I am not privvy to why Jack Cahill got the boot but I really think he was the answer.
A HIGH profile proven winner that every kid south of Wheatsheaf Rd would want to play for.
If Jack could've stayed for 3,4,5 years I really think it could've set south in the right direction.
Of course his departure may not of been souths mistake either, but I think that a person of his profile is the answer.
Fuller has a good record with young talent, but can he resurrect a club in such bad condition throughout all grades ?
Is he the type of person talented SFL players would turn up to train for ? I think not.

South apparently have good coin, why not try and get a Denis Pagan?
He wouldn't come cheap but I reckon he could make a MASSIVE difference to the footy club and I bet many players would be queuing up to play for the panthers if he was in charge.
Just get someone with a VERY BIG profile to take charge and keep him at the helm for a few years so the area embraces your club.

From what I've heard from insiders in the industry, South were not at fault with Jack Cahill. I too thought he was the answer, a high profile coach with a fantastic record, but unfortunately it is my understanding he had serious personal problems outside of football, which contributed to him not being in the right frame of mind or even dedicated to the cause.

I think Ron Fuller is a good choice. He was a great coach at Torrens, so many Grand Finals, but more importantly, great consistency from the team year in, year out... South need someone to break the culture of being a poor performer. He started brightly, but the culture is overwhelming him and he needs to fight and fight to get past that.

Today was a shocking day for South, but really, they've only had 1 or 2 bad games this year, as opposed to just lots of games where they've been beaten by a couple of goals.

Someone will have the stats, but surely 4-5 of their 9 defeats have been by small margins...
