SWEET SIXTEEN!

Well, that was epic.

To come back from 13 points down in the third when Kobe couldn't hit the side of a barn is something special.

And to beat Boston!

Especially when it came down to the last 11 seconds. Take a bow Ron-Ron! This is the greatest Lakers championship of them all.

Commiserations, Strawb. Thought you SOBs wre gonna pull it out at one stage. Another great chapter in basketball's greatest rivalry. No consolation but it was a very pro-Celtic crowd at the pub. Still, I'm gonna enjoy seeing those ROYAL LAKER posts for the next week. ;)

Love being drunk at 2.53 on a Friday arvo.

alright. i've settled down a bit now, thanks to a few extra brews!

as magpow said, for kobe to be shooting like he was and us still get the win, is amazing. RONRON!!!

and in all seriousness, ya can't let a team snag 23 (i think it was?) offensive boards and expect a good result.

pau with 18 points and 19 boards.

but ronron with 20pts, and keeping PP to 18! that's a massive win.

Gasol should have got the MVP award! He was amazing in this Series.

As a neutral it was a great way to spend a Friday, an epic contest in Game 7 between two classic rivals. Had the stream cranking at work so didn't get a lot done. Congrats Lakers and unlucky Boston - you guys did well to get so far even after I wrote you off a few pages back.

See TBB, I told you there was nothing wrong with the Finals format ;)

Sux that the Celts lost, but (bugger me this is hard to type as I genuinely dont like them) congrats to the Lakers .. To rebound from the shellacking they copped a coupla years back to grab B2B titles is the mark of a pretty special outfit.

NBA Finals
Game 7

LA Lakers 83
Boston 79

LA Lakers win series 4-3

LA LAKERS ARE 2009-2010 NBA CHAMPIONS

What I saw-

- An amazing effort where a team can shoot 32% and their star (Kobe) shoot 6/24 FG including 0/6 3pt FG and WIN  Boston outshot the Lakers 41% to 32% FG and 38% to 20% 3pt FG.
- The Lakers won the game on the offensive glass with an amazing 23 offensive rebounds and 53 in total, lead by Gasol (18- 9 offensive) and Bryant (15- 4 offensive). Boston had only 8 offensive boards (4 of those by PG Rondo) and 40 total rebounds
- It was dominated by the starters with the Lakers bench scoring 9 points (Odom 7, Vujacic 2) and Boston's 6 points (Davis 6)

FINAL SIX MINUTES (scores tied at 64)

LA Boston
14 15 Possesions
19 15 Points
3/6 5/13 FG
12/14 2/2 FT

The off season has started...

PHILADELPHIA -- Samuel Dalembert got his wish.

The Philadelphia 76ers traded Dalembert to the Sacramento Kings on Thursday for Andres Nocioni and Spencer Hawes.

Dalembert asked for a trade last year because he was unhappy with his role. Now, he got it.

AND

The draft is less than one week away

Finals- Kobe. What a joke that was, he almost single-handedly cost them the title in Game 7. Gasol was the true winner.

Regular season- LBJ. As if it would be anybody else.

Regular season MVP: LeBron

Finals MVP: Kobe (could've made an argument for Gasol)

and Pau's free throw shooting in that game 7 went along way to secure the chip?

KOBE'S FINALS AVG - 28.6ppg, 8reb, 3.9ast, 2.1stl,
PAU'S - 18.6ppg, 11.6reb, 3.7ast, 2.5blks.

Pau was awesome in the finals, but i'd still say Kobe deserved MVP. Would have been silly to not give it to him because he shot poorly in one game.
