Round 14 - North v WWT @ Prospect 2.10pm Sat 26th June

Postby GWW » Thu Jun 17, 2010 10:41 pm

North hasn't been overly convincing at Prospect this year, and I think this trend may continue in this game against the Eagles.

My tip: WWT to win a close one, by 11 points.

North have got problems.

Eagles will depend on their ins and outs.

North narrowly. If they lose, blame the coach, but look at some of the players too.

if they lose will healy's head be well & truly on the chopping block ?

this is an absolute nightmare game to predict but seeing north look like a fractured team i'll go for the eagles but only just, lets say 9 points

North are rooted and can't possibly win.

If the Eagles drop this then they don't deserve to be in the 5 ... but they won't.

North haven't been convincing anywhere (on the field) this year and have gon backwards since last time they played the Eagles, Eagles by a lot more than 11 points!!

Good summary R&B - problems, you could put "big" in front of that and spot on with some of the players however the coach must take most of the blame to date!

Eagles to win easily - North have no confidence, motivation or will power and we are gone for 2010 and potentially for 2011 unless big changes are made!

I understand that Healy has said if North don't make the finals this year he'll walk away.

Eagles need to find some goal kickers this week, hopefully Welsh will be fit.....Shultz will stay with the Power, and Salter is doubtfull with a calf strain.

We need the likes of Goldsworthy, Jacky, and Grocke to perform. I think we will still have Vince who will be better for the run, and Broadbent and Rowntree should both play forward.

Parry has been in good form in the ruck and Biglands is beginning to show some touch after a couple of years out of the game. Centre clearances will be important this week, with James Allen the specialist for North who we need to stop... this could be the area that defines who wins this contest...I am hoping Eagles to get a much needed win by 2 goals.

If we get there because Healy has done something drastically different with our gameplan and lack of intensity, then fine, otherwise I hope we don't make the finals.

All Healy has to do is to look at a tape of 2007-08 when North had the wood on the Eagles. North still have most of their guns from that time, and the Eagles side is not as good as it was in those years. Too much run and too much height up forward. End of story.
Otherwise, another 4 goals grinding win to the Eagles and Sturt will be the only threat to West and the Eagles for a finals spot.

Eagles team selections will again be very interesting this week, dependant of course on AFL listed availability and of those on the injury list. Queries would be Schulz - would he be eligible this weekend having played for the Power last weekend, Vince - aprently rolled an ankle last weekend, Welsh - Hip to be tested, Hentschel - set to resume this weekend.

It is fair to say North are currently having more than their fair share of issues and form hasn't been the greatest but the Eagles also are not in great form having only won 1 game in the last 5.

This all makes for a very interesting contest though. If North were to lose it would almost mean curtains on their 2010 season and another loss to the Eagles would bring them even closer to the pack and at risk of dropping out of the top 5.

I'm going to wait for team selections before predicting the outcome of this game.

Looking at recent history makes for very interesting reading.

The Eagles have now won the last 4 matches between these two teams including the Elimination Final last season. Before that North Adelaide had won the previous 5 in a row though. North have also won 4 of the last 5 games played at Prospect but the Eagles did win the last battle at the same ground.

The average winning margin from the last 5 games played is 24 with 4 of the 5 games being decided by 3 goals or less. the biggest winning margin in the same time was a 67 point win to the Eagles in round 7 of this year at Woodville. Theaverage winning margin from the last 5 games at Prospect is 16 points with 3 of the last 5 games being decided by 3 goals or less.
