Round 13 - Glenelg v Sturt @ Glenelg Sun 2.10pm 20th June

Postby GWW » Mon Jun 14, 2010 9:34 pm

The Double Blues will fancy their chances of an upset this week given their improved form in round 12, and their extra day's preparation compared to the Bays.

Glenelg's form has been considerably more consistent than Sturt's this year, but I think this game could be a particularly close tussle.

I think the Bays will win by about 3 goals.

While beating Norwood was very... very... VERY sweet... I can't see us doing the Tigers. While it was a pretty dedicated performance from the Sturt boys, really put in for most of the game, they need to step up another level again to compete with Glenelg. We're still about 10 goals away from being anything like we were last season.

Glenelg 21-30.

Really depends on Sturt bringing their best game on the day. If they do I'm sure it will be a great game and should draw a good size crowd.

Should be a beauty.

Sturt trying to get their season back on track and claw into the 5, the Bays trying to consolidate a top 3 berth and avoid a hat trick of losses to the double blues.

Will be a good test for both teams.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

If all the supporters from last weekends matches return to support their teams this week... wow ..we'd better get the council to re-open the side gates, and get the catering staff ordering up big.

With no TV coverage like there was earlier this year at Unley to tempt people to stay home, it would be great to have 8-9,000 there on Sunday

Fence to fence measurements

AAMI Stadium - 180 x 145
Adelaide Oval - 187 x 122
Alberton Oval - 188 x 142
Richmond Oval - 188 x 138
Norwood Oval - 178 x 118
Glenelg Oval - 171 x 126
Elizabeth Oval - 190 x 140
Noarlunga Oval - 185 x 150
Prospect Oval - 177 x 131
Thebarton Oval - 190 x 140
Unley Oval - 175 x 120
Woodville Oval - 203 x 121

So Glenelg Oval is 6 metres wider, but 4 metres shorter than our community parkland that we call an oval.

No reason why there won't be 6000+ on Sunday. Good to see the Sturt doomsayers have already written of their teams chances. Probably the same group that wrote them off before the last game at Unley and the prelim final.

Unfortunately I can't be at the game on Sunday but I'm sure the Bays supporters and players will be happy to hear that Hinge has been given the all clear from the tribunal to play this week along with Tim McIntyre, both cleared for rough play. Hinge in good form against Norwood, I'd expect him to continue his form.

With all the injuries we had going into the Prelim it looked a pretty bleak chance for us to win.

Is good? Yes! If that's the result each time I'll pay those doomsayers to write off as hard as they can mate. I hope your observation holds true this time around.

Glenelg team from Adelaide Now
http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl ... 5881043851

F: Bradley, T. Grima, Bode
HF: C. Kane, Kirkby, Willoughby
C: Tenace, Murphy, B. Kane
HB: Panozzo, Kirk, Rudolph
B: Mules, Mills, Shaw
R: Cranston, Allen, Ruwoldt
Int: Sellar, Lally, Scott-Collings

Good Luck to Daniel Scott-Collings if he gets the gig.
(Par for the course Meyer is named in Power squad yet again, but who knows if he'll get to pull on either a Tigers or Port guernsey)

Daniel has been playing really well in Reserves and has clearly earned his chance.
He played in last years U18s Premiership Team and State U18s.
