This really sh!tted me off. Yesterday I was coming home from town on the Outer Harbor train. On the train were a couple and another women. For the whole trip they had a massive argument/coversation as loud as life, for everyone to hear, envolving swearing and abuse to each other and the people around them. On top of that they had a little girl in a pram with them who continually shouted out and cried to get her parents attention. They also had music playing aswell, loud enough so I could hear over my own I-pod (which is 1 of my pet hates).

That describes a typical day's commute on the Gawler line.

Except that the Gawler line has gone into hiatus for 4 months - at least between Adelaide and Mawson Lakes - adding another 20 or so minutes to an already lengthy commute. Which gives me the shytts. Been driving consistently for a few weeks now.

Poor bastard..... ;)
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

My old Canon bubble jet printer finally gave up the ghost so I went to Big W to get a new one. They had an all-singing all-dancing HP printer on sale for $60. One of those printer/photocopier all in ones. 'Great deal' I say and grab one. Now the ink cartridges have run out so I went down to the local office supplies store .... 1 x colour, 1 x black cartridge = $110! How can the cartidges cost more than the printer itself??? I realise now I should've bought 2 printers, taken the cartridges out of the second one and sold the brand new printer on E-Bay!

It's time to give up ink jets.
So many of the companies have worked out how to make them reject cartridges you refill yourself and thus force you to buy exorbitantly priced replacements that must come from China for very little.
I tend to use a Brother B&W laser that runs happily on generic toner cartridges, and a Konica Minolta colour laser for which I buy branded toner with the inbuilt satin finish additives.
However this source is worth looking at: http://www.valueprint.net.au/

A mate of mine worked for HP a while back. When he started there he couldn't get over the fact that once the cartridges ran out of the inkjet printers they had in the office they just threw them out and got a new printer for the very reason you describe above.

That's why the printer is so cheap ... always consider total cost of ownership with these things!

Talk to her and she'll leave. If she stays you might get your sister back. Can't hurt.

I'm a victim of this too.

There is a similar thing happening with another product too - the Tommy Tippee Sangenic Hygiene Plus+ Advanced Nappy Disposal System. (In plain english, that means a bin to put dirty nappies in). It's basically a white bin that has a cartridge containing one very long plastic plastic bag with open ends. You stick the cartridge in, tie a knot at one end and then stick the nappy in through a grab-clasp. Then you twist the cartridge and it seals the aromas.

The unit cost us $150 including 6 cartridges. Went back the other day to buy some more cartridges - and a pack of four was something like $60! I look around and see the starter box I paid $150 for is now on sale, with 6 cartridges included, for $95. So I bought a new starter kit and got a second bin for $5. When I got home I said that's the last time we do this - it'll be plain old nappy bags in the standard bin outside from here on in (especially in winter!). That's a fight I'm still not sure I've won though.
