Well done Tim on a fine career at the Blues and the Legs. To get to 300 after being told you were Magoos bound is a credit to your dedication and perserverance.

Just wondering if anyone knows how many Reserves and trial games he's played in addition to 300 official league games?

Not sure on the trial games figures but below shows that with 334 total SANFL games (obviosuly 299 League appearances) Tim has played 35 additional games between the reserves and Under 19's (sorry don't know this mix - maybe Spelly?) during his early days at Sturt.

I guess it would be fair to say that with a career in the SANFL system spanning roughly 17 or 18 seasons at say an everage of 3 trial games per summer, you could probably add roughly another 50 games to this tally which is just amazing.

TWIN TRIPLE TONS

Norwood midfielder Tim Weatherald isn't the only one playing his 300th SANFL game this weekend.

Eagles veteran Justin Cicolella notches up his 300th match across all grades against West on Saturday.

With 217 League, 33 Reserve, 28 under-19 and 21 under-17 games, Cica has played the third most of any current player, behind Weatherald (334) and Bulldogs backman Adam Switala (301).

Here's the current top 10:

Tim Weatherald (Norwood) 334
Adam Switala (Central District) 301
Justin Cicolella (Eagles) 299
Brett O'Hara (North) 279
Paul Thomas (Central) 245
Richard Cochrane (Central) 244
James Gallagher (Norwood) 237
Stuart Bown (Norwood) 228
Jade Sheedy (Sturt) 226
James Gowans (Central) 221

He will be the first player to reach the 300 game milestone since the Eagles Andrew Payze back in 1998 according to the story on 7 News...

What year then did Port Magpies Tim Ginevar notch up his 300th game, perhaps Spelly might know?

Tim wasn't thrown a lifeline by Norwood we jumped at the great opportunity in front of us and proud he chose us to continue his carreer.

I attended his first game he played for us against North at prospect if memory serves, and he got a standing ovation from the NFC supporters when he came off the ground at days end, he earned our total respect that day by his achievements on the field.

I account his leadership and inspiration on the ground that day to what is now happening every week by our team at all levels with total committment to the ball without fear.

Congratulations Tim, on a great achievement of 300 games with Sturt and Norwood, to that we all at Norwood work to add another premiership to you long list of achievements.

Cheers,

How many league games is Paul Thomas on. He could have anywhere up to another 5 years in him. Might be the only other current SANFL player to ever reach the 300 mark.

With the chance of injuries and so forth that would be another 4-5 seasons away you would think so abit to much for him.

Thought he might have been gone, when he left Sturt but has resurrected his career brilliantly with the redlegs who are on the up

Paul Thomas will be playing his 160th League game for Central this weekend...

Let's say he plays the remaining games of this season and assume the Dogs will play say the 3 finals games, he would finish the 2010 season on a tally of 172 games.

At 28 years of age and being the fit, professional footballer Paul is, I'd suggest he has at least another 3 or 4 seasons minimum of league football left in him.

On say an average of around 23 games played in a season (give or take the byes, injuries and an uncertain amount of finals games played in any given year) Paul would need to play on until about 2015 or 2016 which would take him to about 33 or 34 years of age to become the next player to notch up 300.

Not beyond doubt I reckon...

Unless of course the Gowans' boys keep playing into their 40's  ;)

Great write up in todays Advertiser
Reece Homfrey has done a very good article

Tim was asked
MOST MEMORABLE GAME
Tims answer
2002 Grand Final, without a doubt

Surely Tim is deluding himself ?
Most memorable game was on 30/5/2010 at Woodville Oval
That day he latched on to a centre break
He then launched a massssssssssssssssive drop punt that went on and on and on and on and on and went about 50 metres

PA V NW is the 300th on Saturday
I would expect nearly every NW barracker to applaud Tim on his day
I would also expect some ST barrackers to attend and pay homage to the great man as well
