All this talk about Portlock, it's been a while but can i reiterate that Ben Baxter from the Demons would have to be possibly their most valuable player, extremely under-rated as an overall package, i challenge anyone to underestimate his pace also! This guy is the real reason Willunga have been so successful of late! Absolute gun!

Not agreeing or disagreeing with you specky, but will say that people tend to over estimate blokes when they are in a gun side! Every1 thought Des Headland was going to be the next Michael Voss while at Brisbane, yet he's turned out to be just a good AFL player not great!
Put it this way, if you play in a Country footy side that has Haskett, Hams & Portlock, you've got a fairly good head start

Baxter wouldnt be in Willunga's top 5. I challenge his pace and skill level speccy. I dont believe he is the reason for Willunga's past success. Steel, Glass, Hams, Thomas, Portlock, Haskett is the real reason IMO.

have to agree portlock and baxter are quality players and have enjoyed watching them over the years but i reckon yank
have the player that everyone has forgotten about due to pratt, lohde and dundee taking all the attention. from what im hearing hes has been injuried all season but when hes fit lewis is still the most damaging player in the comp i would hate to see how good yank will be then

i'd have to say johnny eagleton from strath woud be right up there with most damaging player of the comp at the moment.pace and ball-reading abilities has been cutting opposition apart.and from the midfield is in top 6 or 7 for goal kicking.very good effort for first half fo the season!
marc elliot would be up there also

Speccy you are absolutely spot on. Baxter is very very good. One of the best and hard at it midfielders for many many years. Last years final at Yank, Willunga were 4 or 5 goals down at half time against The Creek.......Baxter kept Willunga in the game for the first half. Portlock and Hams had very few touches until the second half.

He is pretty good nick Rooblood. I think maybe you are seeing him through the bottom of your beer glass and magnifying things a bit.
