Personally, I haven't had a problem at any ground for a long time. Last time I remember was at Norwood when I was sold a can that was 6 months out of date and had rust forming on the bottom  .
Worked out well though as I returned it and got 2 free bourbons for my trouble 8)

No all good mate, sensible discussion .. You must have won the raffle can that night ;)

Personally I've never understood the fascination surrounding food catering at the footy .. For sure if I couldn't get a beer somewhere I'd be annoyed, but I don't plan my eating around the footy and if I'm hungry enough I'll eat just about anything* if it's better than going hungry.

C'mon CP, I lined up for a good 15 minutes and only to be told they had run out. I would've thought a lot of people were lining up for the same reason as I, couldn't they have informed people at the least?

I normally just get some chips or a pie or something, no big deal, but to go to two separate places and both be completely out, that's pretty poor.

You must have walked straight past our BBQ going from one Hotdog van to another. Obviously you like pretend meat more then the real stuff. Give me steak any day!

Yeah I knew that mate, in fact I do prefer a BBQ but wasn't at the right place at the right time. ;)

Just one of those days.

Obviously a great game of footy when the discussion is all about Hot Dogs, bandwagon supporters and where people park their deck chairs!

ST 5-6
NW 3-5
In the third qtr
We saw the brilliance of Matthew Jaensch
2 sensational running goals and ST got a vital 4 goal lead
That was the game splitting brilliance that won the day

NW had a chance earlier to get closer, with the NW version of Jaensch
The ball was passed to Simon Phillips who was clear and running into a very gettable position to goal
The umpire blew his whistle
Phillips propped , slowed to a canterish pace, turned his head to see why the whistle was sounded
There was no need as the umpire did not call a stoppage
Phillips was run down from behind, ridden into the ground
And was nabbed holding the ball
It was one of those days

Nick Duigan also went for one of his trademark runs and missed a shot for goal on the run in the 3rd qtr

Results
ST 2-0
NW 0-1

End score
ST 11-13
NW 10-11

I had a clear view of the Phillips decision and just to finish off the comedy, Phillips then had 25 metres awarded against him. I know it is only mid-season but I'm calling it now - that decision cannot be topped as the winner of the 2010 Worst SANFL Umpiring Decision Award - remember that I am a Sturt fan so this award is judged without any sour grapes or whinging factors influencing the final result. Richard Williams has to hand back the trophy that he has kept in his pool room for the past 12 consecutive years - pity I can't recall which umpire out of Dey, Bowen or Deboy did the deed.

I wasnt there, but it sounds like Deboy to me.

He is a prodigy of the Richard Williams Umpiring Academy.

Come to think of it, why is Williams bring our great game into a shambles each Saturday???
I wish my remembering was as good as my forgetting

He could probably ask the same question about why your club is a shambles each saturday.
Williams hasn't been umpiring for 60 years, which would put your club way ahead regarding embarrasing the competition.

Well done to Sturt, too slick for us today. Hopefully we can chalk it up to one of those days and get back to our best next weekend.

I've already prefaced my remarks by saying Sturt deserved to win, so I don't want any comments about making excuses .... especially from idiot Central fans, aren't they a classy bunch? I expect nothing better from them.

Anyway, it really should be time for the 9 clubs to go to the SANFL and say "Enough!! We've had enough of this incompetent rabble you laughingly pass off each week as umpiring".

Fair dinkum, today supporters and players of both clubs stood astounded to see mistake after mistake from the clowns in white, it was like the keystone cops at times, debates with goal umpires, etc. Mal has already mentioned the Phillips one, time to put the advantage rule to bed because the umpires don't understand when they should be paying it.

The other one they are getting wrong time and again is when a player is being pushed as he kicks. For some reason the idiot umpires think it's an excuse to play a free down the ground. Umps .. FYI ... the rule is for AFTER disposal, not DURING.

I don't mind losing, and I don't mind admiting we were beaten by a better team on the day, as we were by Sturt today, but I object to having to put up with umpires who are placing self agendas ahead of the rules of the game. Umps, please wait until you actually start umpiring AFL before you start with that crap, and just umpire in accordance with the rules for a change ... please!!!

Well done Sturt, you're a good side.

I disagree, if the umpiring is crap, it's crap and worth discussing. You can turn a blind eye to a dog turf infront of you but if you step in it it'll still stick and stink. I think Ad Hawk has summed it up very well, the umpiring is at an all time low since I've been going to the footy, since about 1980. The only thing is that when the two teams played last and Sturt supporters were complaining about the umpiring all I heard was excuses backing up crap umpiring, now I hear reasoning of why it's so bad. Different perspective now isn't it! And it wasn't even that bad against Norwood today.
Legs players have been spoilt by the umps recently and lacked composure when it finally was even umpiring. Lots of dummy spits out there today and in the Coaches box.

No excuses, not bad umpiring, not Strut playing better, just Norwood playing extremely poorly!

And what a poor excuse for a League venue! At least we didn't step in any doggie doo-doo or get stuck by discarded needles! Please move back to Adelaide Oval.
Some Norwood supporters are such sh1t supporters. Isn't it amazing they claim such high ground as a club of the highest order in achievement and in all reality in the latter half of their existence they've underachieved. "The Norwood Way" huh what Norwood way. I had a joker next to me yesterday carrying on about the injustice of Norwood missing out on the 2nd AFL license in favour of the filth down at Port Road. My goodness, this bloke actually beleived Norwood would've been a powerhouse in the AFL. Lets try and be consistently competitive in the 3rd best competition in Australia before booking a berth at the MCG eh. In fact, why not try and be the best club in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide before looking east of the border.

When u have 21 goals scored in a game and about 1 third of them resulting from over umpiring or from decisions that appeared wrong, I think we need to focus on the umpiring, especially for you blokes that bet on these games.

As I have said
The results of the last 2 weeks may have been reversed
CD were stiff to lose to NW after the legs were given seemingly every 50/50 decision
NW were crucified at Unley, and who knows if they had stayed with ST earlier they may have won

And to top it off Tim Cahill was red carded last night on what appeared a poor decision
Fortunately this decision made no difference to the result

And to top things off
There was a lot of BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOing after the game for the guys in the white uniforms

Sturt too good, you can't play one quarter of football and expect to win. To play that poorly and only lose by eight points is a good sign though. For the last ten years we would have played badly and lost by fifteen goals.

And if there's any doubt we played really, really badly we made Hinge and Herring look like footballers. Bizarre.

Agree AH, this one has become worse over the last couple of years. So many seem to be paid when there is not malice intended by the chaser, and I'm sure all the coaches want to see the age-old trick of chasers applying pressure so the player with the ball think he is under more pressure than he is next time he gets the ball. Just another example of the umpires trying to be a presence rather than let the players go about playing.

Yeah, some people seem to go to the footy with a complex of being hard-done-by from the start, and this is annoying even when they barrack for your team.

And umpires will make some mistakes within the framework of whatever interpretations they are told to apply.

BUT, this year, with so many of those watching from a neutral perspective commenting on it, including the ABC commentators, don't you think there must be an issue there? Not so much the odd umpiring mistake, but it is the way they are being told to umpire the games that is so frustrating, especially as it is not really adding to the game, and the reason many of us enjoyed the SANFL is because they were letting the players play and not umpiring in the way they have been this year.

so, if I get to the footy at midday & stand at the back of the hill, are you saying that no-one can stand or sit in front of me? As for whingeing about the lack of "food", eat before you go, after all, the game starts well after lunchtime.

So is anyone going to tell me that the premiership table would look any different today if the umpires didnt make mistakes?
