Strut where sh1t, we were just a bit sh1ttier, pure and simple as that!
No excuses, not bad umpiring, not Strut playing better, just Norwood playing extremely poorly!

And what a poor excuse for a League venue! At least we didn't step in any doggie doo-doo or get stuck by discarded needles! Please move back to Adelaide Oval.

UMMMM, do you mean AT my house? If so of course I am still talking Grand Finals, I'm only interested in winning that, not just making finals. Aren't all footy fans? Your statement confuses me.

Agree Norwood are right back in the final 5 mix now though nevermind top 3 spot.

Well done to the SFC, I thought and hoped that we would get a win this week. Hard at the ball around the packs and when the ball was there to be contested, great tackling also.
Umpiring I thought was questionable throughout the 1st 3 quarters but consistent and fair, leaning on the soft side. The holding the ball rule inside a pack was called a few times to both teams as were a few questionable marks. Norwood seemed frustrated without the usual help from the umps ( welcome to our world), and reacted badly resulting with a few 25's, Sturt got one goal with a stupidly soft 25 paid for going over the mark.
I don't know what transpired between the umps at 3/4 time but they changed their interpretation 180 degrees. Norwood shouldve been pinged holding the ball 4-6 times in the last 2 of which were paid high or in the back, both absolutely inept decisions in my mind with a good view on it.
In short, the umpires ruined a great game in the last 1/4, Norwood pounced on the given opportunity, Sturt struggled to halt the onslaught of both umpires and Legs. Sturt by far harder and better team on the day.
Hope Bassets hand is ok also :)

In regards to Unley Oval, I do hate it, the worst of all 9 grounds. I lined up at Wendy's at 1/2 and they'd run out of hotdogs, seriously? And then I went to the other hotdog place at 3/4, all gone there too. Shocking.

I had a good seat today and then these idiots (Norwood supporters, although you wouldn't be able to tell) unfolded their chairs and sat right almost directly in front, blocking out half my view of the oval. Seriously, I know this might sound childish, but I was there first, if you rock up AFTER the game starts, you do not have the right to sit in front and block my freaken view.

Shocking day at the footy.

bayman wrote:why does it take a 'backs to the wall' attitude to get the best out of sturt ?, they were ready to play from the opening bounce & after a tight tussle broke free & had basically buried the game by 'lemon time' however with both teams changing tactics the pendulum swung norwoods way & if the game went another 4 or 5 minutes they may have pinched it, i can understand norwoods approach in the last term with the play on at all cost & kick long as that would be what every team would do in that situation, but i don't understand why sturt went defensive & tried to slow the game down for the entire quarter, i thought that my old mate johnny hinge, giles & herring were sturts best & for norwood i thought dawe, davis & the 'road runner' puopolo were their best

looking to the future which team would be happier in the end ?.................i suspect norwood given their barnstorming finish !!!!

was good to see a bit of 'biffo' today

You're right Bayman, Joffa Giles played a great game for us today, as did Hinge, Jaensch, McGlone and thought Cubillo and Gum were servicable.

So you couldn't get a hotdog and you're special seat was spoiled by you're own mob and that's Sturt's fault. Try standing up next time or move your bloody chair further forward. While Unley does have it's faults, it was a great atmosphere there today and well done to the punters for turning up.

Well you have to blame Wendy's, not the SFC for that effort. It happened before at a Central game when there were like 2 millions fans there, think it was last year, 6300 crowd and they ran out of coke. As for the fans sitting in front of you, yeah people just don't think. Old or young, both generations can sometimes be completely stupid.

Not Sturt's fault, just saying I dislike the oval + what happened today.

If I'd moved my chair, guess what, I would've completely blocked this Sturt supporters view who arrived before me, and I don't stoop to that. I respected that guy who was there before me, so I took my chair and found another seat. Got a problem with that?

How about showing come class mate? csbowes did, thanks mate.

Actually there was a fair bit to like about Sturt's game today, apart from the last quarter. Not smooth, but better in many respects.
But of course you can be relied on to trot out the familiar line, that Norwood are just terrible whenever they lose.
There must be something obscuring your glasses felcher, some milky substance.

Piss off sore loser. Sturt tackled hard (finally) and pressured you for most of the day which is why you looked shit.

so norwood lose the game and now you are making excuses for the loss. Sturt came out a committed side for the first 3 quarters and in the last dropped there bundle and allowed norwood to make things a better scoreline.

the umpiring was very questionable at times and that was for both sides, umpires were very happy to dish out the 25m for the minor things.

A NW barracker summed up the day
early in the last qtr NW got some charity free kicks and kicked some quick goals
A ST barracker rightly went off his tree and blasted the umpires
The NW barracker yelled back
"" Now you know he we have felt for 3/4trs.""

I often read people posting that the umps were not an excuse for winning or losing
Well Ive seen the Legs 3 weeks in a row
EG got a ride and benefitted by about 4 goals
CD were stiff as NW got every freebie available all day, cost CD about 2 goals[and arguably the game]
ST today benefitted from over umpiring and poor umpiring and were prob advantaged by 5 goals at 3/4 time, then NW got about 3 goals back in the last qtr
With a result of less than 2 goals, perhaps a draw was a fair result
