NM,
You are correct, there are a few players leaving for Sth Africa today.
Overall, was a good display by Henley, Gepps played well also.
Many lads felt it was the toughest game they've played in for a long time.
Both sides commitment to the contested footy was second to none.
Henley's D1R's are travelling well and there are some young lads ready to step up to the 1's.
Be a good opportunity for these guys to try and grab a spot and get some more game time.
Who coached districts on the weekend?

I heard a rumour theres 5 players from Henley's A grade that are heading to South Africa for the world cup, these players all left today . A huge hole to fill for Henley.
Maybe Gepps got the wrong info & thought all these players were not playing saturday?

I didn't see the game but my info is that yet again, frustration took over some of the Gepps players and it had an impact on their efforts.
I'm told even the coach was in the mix with 2 x 25 metre penalties against the team and was also reported for dissent toward the umpires, however, I believe the report was withdrawn after the game.
Frustration can do many things, you either get on top of it or it drags you further into the mire.

Not sure of the validity but heard today that Gaza were about 6 up early in the 2nd stanza but Goodies fought back, must agree though would have been a great game to watch

Close but not quite. Footy show on radio on Fri morning was wrong. Kenny Mac left and is now in Egypt on an around the world trip, no other players in sight. Two, and only two, other players have now left for the world cup in South Africa.

I'm gonna do something that would appear to be stupid and pick gaza to win this week. Even though goodwood were pretty dominant over us on the weekend, the gaza record during the regular season has been pretty good over the saints in recent years. Disregarding finals of course, gaza seem to match up pretty well on them.
But I still class goodwood and henley as the 2 best sides by far, and even though there might be the odd upset here and there during the regular season, it'd be hard not to see them both playing off again in the big finale in September.[/quote]

You wernt to far off the money here BOP. Only 1 point to seperate them at the final siren. I also heard that Gaza had a chance to win after the siren but they sprayed it out on the full.

About 1 minute left, set shot from 40-45 metres, 45 degree angle, sent it straight over the top of the Right Hand Point Post!

saw the goodwood and gaza game from the lovely 20th year premiership reunion tent on the hill..gaza jumped them early and went 4 goals up..goodies got it all back by 1/4 time..gaza then got it out to about 9-4 i reckon..goodies slowly pegged it back..hit the lead with 1 minute to go..and yeah the gaza guy was 45m out with 30 seconds to go..sprayed it out on the full..sainters win..the boys on the hill went off and we all had a great day :) some blistering turns of speed from both teams..but the self belief in the goodwood team is nearly a brick wall..they never think they are out of it..great to get back to the old club and see its still a fantastic place to be around..

Was red-carded. Assume he would be. I am not normally into umpire bashing they have a tough job and deserve respect but was not well handled. Easily most disgraceful thing I have ever seen in amateur league.

Can anyone shed any light on why the tribunal/investigation outcomes are no longer for public reading via the SAAFL website?

While yes it is a great effort for Gaza to get within a goal of 3 of the top 4 teams they have also had similar sort of wins against broadview, pt dist and gepps. Reverse all of these results would see Gaza with the same amount of wins but while they would have beaten the top sides they would have lost 2 games to teams below them with broadies then being a game clear of them in 5th and gepps a game closer on their tail.
BOP also spot on the money with his call, while the 2007 GF result majorly favours goodies, recent history between the 2 teams is a lot closer than a lot of ppl would think, i believe that the previous 9 games inc finals may have goodies just ahead 5/4.

7 losses in a row out at TTG. What's going on out there ?? Anyone ??
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.
