Good to see that you read the forum Owen; if you think that contributors are wasting their time putting up their opinion, why the hell do you waste your time reading it?????

Didn't I read in your football budget,"Final Siren" only a few weeks ago under the "whats hot" heading "Vaughan".

So you obviously are a more than a once off reader of the forum; Vaughan was hot then, so is he still hot???

maybe you can explain this in next week's budget, or will that be a waste of time??

as i said never get ahead of ourselves at thunder park ironbank win by 5 gols 2 so not to far of the mark there JQ BUT would have to say terible game to be involved in all credit to loby were hard at it all day and came in for a few beers after the game but once again ironbank lacked in front of goal kicking 24 points not good enough if we want to be competive against the sides we need to beat in the second half of the season . Game was total over umpired as well with the umpires calling every thing and anything even had one decision overruled from 50m away when the controling umpire was 2m away as Vaughan says LET IT GO .All in all happy to get away with the 2 points and go into the break with 3 wins in a row bring on round 2 :D :D

Sorry, should have checked the results link first!
Looks like Lobethal got another 4 points with big wins in U15's and U17's at Ironbank.

Yeah IB B grade won, and Lofty d. Uraidla. So IB now qualify for B grade Courier Cup against Mt Barker.

Oh and Owen, its against forum rules to reveal someones identity, not that the majority of us are really hiding who we are....

LMAO, apparently the footy forum is insignificant enough to warrant a defensive piece. Gotta laugh at the contradiction

Nonsense
I have no idea how many of you people out there in Hills football land look at the footy forum on your computers, but I sincerely hope not too many. I have just had a look through the sections that deal with the Hills Football League and I conclude that there is a fair bit of nonsense.
Now firstly you need to know that to be a contributor to the footy forum you do NOT have to identify yourself. In other words you use an alias. How weak is that? I will sign my name at the bottom of this article!
What amazes me is how quickly some of these contributors get onto information. Some know of things as soon as we decide them!
Perhaps the authors are people we know well. While some of the stuff is garbage some of it is very true.
I do find a few of the things written half sensible. For example one writes about Callington: "At least they are not destroying the comp by paying absurd amounts of money for mediocre blokes". An example of how they get things wrong: "Anyone at the Meadows Maccy s/c game? heard that had to be called off before it started because of an all in brawl". The game was forfeited by Macclesfield because of a shortage of players and they played a friendly scratch match.

Quite a few of the contributors have had a go at the HFL administration [mainly myself] over the incidents at Kangarilla on Saturday. Well firstly, we can only deal with things if they are reported to us correctly and in the appropriate manner. We cannot be every where!
One of the incidents at Kangarilla has been reported as such and was dealt with at tribunal on Wednesday night. Report on this below.
Now to all those people who put stuff on the footy forum, I hope you are major volunteers with an HFL football club and you work your butt off for that club. Because if you don't you are not worth a crumpet to football. You have "obvious talent". Use it to benefit football, not hinder it!

Thursday. The case arising from the incident at Kangarilla on Saturday was heard last night and turned out to be a bit of a fizzer. Quite honestly it was a "meeting" of five lads who had just played football against each other, with feelings a little high, who had a bit more than a chat! There had been an incident in the game which did involve two of the lads. Nothing was premeditated and nobody was hurt.
What worries me more is this. The whole tribunal happenings and results was on the "footy forum" by 10.20pm. We finished at 9.30pm! Just enough time to get back to Torrens Valley or Kangarilla! Had to be somebody at that hearing. Please, if you have time for this footy forum garbage [I'm sorry, but that's what most of it is] forget that and put your time into doing some thing useful for your club.

Owen, you'd better put out an APB and find the HFL internal mole! That's a far bigger problem than anyone putting their opinions forward on the workings of the HFL

But you surely must acknowledge his frustration when he reads some things that he knows are blatantly untrue.

The classic was the report in the country thread that a colts match last week was called off due to an "all in brawl before the first bounce", when it was actually called off because one team didn't have enough players. The original post was either misguided or purposely inflammatory. Regardless, it had the potential to reflect poorly on both clubs as it implied that their junior players were out of control, when they were not.

As posters on this forum we a have a repsonibility to check our facts before we make big claims and post them online.

Here endeth the lesson.....

Forgive me if im wrong Gervais but the reason Macclesfield didnt have enough players to start the game is because they had recieved 7 yellow cards before the first bounce and you cannot start a match with only 10 players on the field. Please correct me if im wrong!

And of course, at Macclesfield that is known as the 'responsible actions of minors'!

Was a tough day for Birdwood. We did lose Owen Cannon and Matt Krieg in the first which didn't help but we were simply outclassed by the best coached and drilled side we've played since being up in Central division. Other teams have their superstars and great players but Mt Barker really work for each other, tacking, shepherding and generally supporting each other really well.

On the bright side was great to have Tom Wood debut strongly in the ruck. Will be a great player for the future. Also Danny Jones' 100th and also Matt Osborn played his 100th.

Now Round 9 is completed I would be interested to hear every one's thoughts on where they think all clubs are sitting in the race for the flag 2010.

From my perspective Uraidla are the best side we have played, followed closely by Blackwood then Lofty and Mt Barker.

If we can possibly get anywhere near a full side out on the ground we may cause these four some concern, but have been a long way off over the past month.

Just the one comment re the top side. Write off Uraidla at your own peril!!! Barkers and Blackwood going ok but Uraidla still have the best playing staff.
