Wait until you venture to Payneham, you will have a 'coronary' with Cokes at $2.45, something else to whinge about![/quote]

Perhaps they saw you coming mate and the kids at the canteen figured they could whack a 22.5% GST on each can. Every time i partake in a tin of Cokes finest its $2 and the sign on the fridge says exactly that. I reckon when i was down your way earlier this year i did pay $5 for a tinny however.Whats a bloke to do in this new age of pre and re-hydration.

LMA wrote:I recall a recent Div 4 club whose players got the coach sacked, as result the club under pressure made a brash appointment the following year, (as they probably had lack of interest in the position) players left and are now on the verge of Div6.
If players are the ones calling the shots here, the club would want to make sure they got it right, as rumour and reputation doesn't take long to circulate in the amateur league and the club could find it hard to attract quality coaches in the future.

PS: NM, Matt Ash played in our D grade flag last year and has been out at Torrens Valley this year, but I get the jist of what your saying.

It's nice to be used as an example to warn other clubs about this sort of situation, cause you really don't want it happening to you. Our club did make a wrong decision but you're incorrect LMA we did have alot of interest in the job, 9 applicants I'm led to believe. But the guy who got the job was good at the interview and convinced the club to select him even though there were better applicants that the club could of chosen. As a result we are now where we are and we can't change what has happened, we can only improve on it. So to the members of the Port District football club choose your next coach wisely, it could mean the differance between a Div 1 premiership and playing Div 3 football.

I note in the Amateur Footy budget a statement from the Gepps Cross coach Jason Roe stating that some players will be "rested" on Saturday as they are ''sore'.
It might pay him to do his homework before this happens, not sure Gepps are in a secure enough position at 3-5 (with Henley this week)to afford him the luxury of resting anyone, next weekend they can all "rest" on the bye weekend.
I seem to remember last season the last spot for both finals and relegation wasn't decided until round 18 and it was on percentage, so who is to say that 9th spot is not up for grabs again in the same way and IMO, it is fraught with danger to go down this path of 'resting' players.
If you look at the ladder, it may be that Gepps, TTG, Broadies or Port Dist are in relegation contention later in the season depending on results, so why would anyone want to put their club at risk for the sake of giving some players a 'rest?
It's not the AFL, and maybe some of those he is to rest never play a full game anyway.

Not sure Meersy would knock back his role at West for thecoaching gig at Districts. Steedy is my tip.

Ace, surely you could see this for what it is. Just an attempt to talk down Gepps chances this week against Henley. You can be guaranteed Henley know Gepps wont be resting players and are a good side when they turn up, especially at home, should be a great game.

We'll see later tonight. I'm waiting for them to turn up too, hasn't happened much this season and I'm not sure he thinks that far ahead.

Is that why Tired Tiger left Gepps Cross - $2.30 for his can of diet coke, he only has to pay $2.00 a can at Hope Valley!!

Another week and another gripe about the coaching staff at Gepps Ace?? Could it be deep down that you long for another shot in the red, white & blue gazebo down at Rowe Avenue??

Stickers, for what this is worth, I have absolutely no inclination nor wish to be in the gazebo again, I've done my bit for Gepps Cross and you appear to think much like some of the previous & current coaching staff whereby people are not allowed to have nor voice an opinion unless it is the same as theirs. Also the fear of the likes of you coming out of the closet as an unknown with ridiculous quips about mandates or agendas doesn't concern me either, I've been insulted by experts.

Just an observation Ace , Noticed recently that plenty of your comments towards Gepps have been driected at the coaching panel in recent times pointing out their many "flaws" and simply asked a question on your desires beyond 2010. Keep the opinions coming Ace, makes for great reading ;)
