kangy took 4-5 witnesses who saw the whole incident to the tribunal (one of who i believe was a cop) and tv had 2 written statements (one saying it was out of character for the tv player and one other). the tv player in question concocted some rubbish excuse but his story had more holes than a siv and the league found him guilty but just gave him the three week suspended sentence and torrens valley a suspended $500 fine.

the other player and parent who held the kangy boy down were not even talked to by the hfl and have had no penalties.

i wonder if this case should have gone to the tribunal (usually reserved for on field incidences) or should have been dealt with solely by the league directors? seems very soft when a player can swear at an umpire and get weeks!

Unreal 1250,this is a joke ,the league needs to have a good look at itself and needs a major shake up .It seems its run by a relic who was involved in footy pre world war 1 ,with no idea at all.We have clubs paying ridiculous money for players ,more than sanfl in some cases ,and we have this disgraceful post game behavior ,let alone the stomping on someone head in junior footy and no action ,a slap on the wirst at best .Have a good look atb this HFL and take action.

1250 - Can you clarify - I may have missed something but ..................

this is correct camel. tv recieved a $500 suspended fine for having a player instigate an off field incident with a player from another club.

kangarilla football club recieved a $500 suspended fine with a VERY vague justification about how because they reported the incident they are therefore open for some form punishment

I have been an advocate for the HFL, ever since I have been involved with the league, when Kangy came into the league, I thought it has been run fairly well, and I sometimes think the league and Owen in particular gets some harsh critisism at times on this forum, but the league and the directors and Owen himself deserve everything they get here.

If everything that has been stated is true then the "penalties", if you can call them that, are nothing short of a disgrace and a blight on the league. The father or whoever it was needs a life ban, the player needs a lenghty suspension and TV need to be dragged over the coals. Niether TV, or the HFL have shown any balls on this issue and the league is worse off for it.

How can a player be found guilty of a premeditated assualt, with the assistance of two other people, after the game and be given a suspened sentence? I repeat here, the players guilt is not an issue, the tribunal have found him guilty, how can they justify such a penalty? Surely the directors have to show some courage and leadership and overhaul the tribunal system.

How can Owen get on his high horse and write in the siren about there being too many red and yellow cards and then sit by as this goes through to the keeper?

And to top it all off Kangy get a fine? You have got to be kidding me? So next time something like this happens (which is likely now, as seeing there are no consequences and all) sould Kangarilla, or any other team just take actions into their own hands instead of trying to go through the right procedures? It will certainly be a cheaper option.

Hopefully the police will show some conviction and give the people involved an adequate punishment because the league have shown time and time again that they have no idea and no real leadership when it comes to meaking the hard decisions.

Could this incident be considered aggravated assualt? Its a premeditated attack with intent to cause harm, people go to jail all the time for that...

Go Demons!

Shock Result. Similar to last years Qualifying Final ;) in that no one would have predicted the scoreboard.

True though. Kersbrook have won only once since 94 at Echunga Oval and lost a couple of GFs there too. At the other end of the scale and just down the road, Kersbrook haven't lost on Maccelsfield Oval since 97, and were pretty grateful the last 2 GFs have been there.

OUCH....... that hurts.......touché :(
I hope we have that little bit more........... this year not to be intimidated in finals.
I think some of that that comes from the young B grade success in the finals last year.
We hope to go past the Preliminary this year in both grades. :)
Please do not read the media our strength is in as always the pressure and tackling in close around the ball that will provide an opportunity to move to the next level.
I do not get to see a lot of the A grade in Country but you have an impressive size of player, that any Hills club would be proud of and does not have at the present.
You could probably name your spine and utilities and their heights and that would floor any Hills club, as they hope for just 2 at that height.

Exceptionally well said Benchmark. I have no connection whatsoever with any of the clubs involved in this latest debable. But I've heard enough other comments from very reliable sources to believe this forum represents an accurate picture of last week-end. To Owen and Board, THIS IS OUT OF CONTROL. If we all weren't so bloody sore on Mondays you might just have a protest on your hands at Alexandrina Road. Seriously Owen, this is just not cricket, and certainly not football.
Older, wiser and been there. But still love that grassroots country footy.

I'm glad you've crossed the line with your vote mate. Furthermore, the Siren shouldn't be allowed to be a forum for the President's crap. It should be run by an impartial party so we don't all end up with a double dose of what is essentially total B/S.

Just letting you all know I have heard a different slant on this whole story;
Firstly I have heard that the kangy senior colt player threw the first punch but missed and the tv player didnt miss when he had a crack, also heard that the parent didnt hold anyone, not sure he had any real involment at all. The players from both sides carried what ever happen on the ground off the ground, which with young boys under 17 is always a good chance of happening. I have no ties to TV, but understand that this info was given by the the lads from Kangy. This is third hand info.

as someone who was at the tribunal hearing, i can assure you that that is not what the kangy boys said. there was a scuffle on the ground with the tv and kangy player but the tv players and parent followed the player after the game and jumped him. i struggle to comprehend how the kangy player could have possibly swung the first punch when he was ambushed and held down which many witnesses can attest to and not just people from kangarilla.

the tribunal and league confirmed this story and found the tv player guilty. the issue is with the punishment handed down

owen and the hills football league are very good at telling people what they want to hear to put themselves in a good light.

We all need to be very careful when we make judgement on issues or incidents that we didn't witness ourselves. Most of the stuff I have read is second or third hand, we sound like a mothers gossip circle. Beware the egg on face syndrome Brag cos' you will soon discover the truth and have to make an apology to T/V people. I know it is easy to sling mud at Owen but how many of us sat on the tribunal Wed night. Do you know who threw the first punch and where did the rumour about a dad being involved come from?
Is this just a disguise to smoke scene a cheap king hit against Kersbrook a couple of weeks ago?
C'mon brag get off the Ports before midday and you might actually be able to see some football.

I have questions!

1. If the incident was so serious at Kangarilla has it been reported to police?
2. Isn't the chairman of the HFL Tribunal, who presides over these things, a former high ranking police officer?
3. Did I read recently in the "Final Siren" that a Kersbrook player was felled behind play at Kangarilla?
4. Did an opposition player have his jaw broken in an incident in a game against Kangarilla towards the end of last season?
5. Are these things more serious when they actually happen to someone from Kangarilla?
6. What do they say about people who live in glass houses?
7. Why am I pleased my club is in Central Division?

I need answers!!!!!!
