The clubs in bigger towns definitely have access to more sponsors, but they also have access to more (quality) locals as well.

I think some minor changes need to be made & that is all. Reduce the number of points to what equates to 2 players ie: 6 points for the premiers, & add 1 point for every spot after. Seems fairly straight forward! God knows why 2-4 are on the same points? Seems rediculous.

Its a simple fact that most clubs cant afford to spend the larger amounts of points, as players are asking for more & more every year, so reduce every1's points but still have a variance

Pretty much agree with everything being said here in relation to points. Definitely has not created a fantastically even playing field nor is it saving clubs money. YET.
I have this hope that as the years progress the league (thru its club delegates) will tweak it so that this occurs. Dropping off points as we progress.
Hate any sort of salary cap because there is zero accountability. Sign and decalaration and send it in.

points system probably does need a tweak but its not as simple giving an extra point the further down you go.
when it comes down to it yes they have a larger pool of "quality" locals to pick from but clubs like rambles for instance. havent gone out and gotten so&so ex afl player for way too much money only to lose him in a season or two. they get blokes who are actually going to stay around for 5+ years and give some decent service to the club.

now i know that these types of blokes are often hard to find. but the sooner that clubs work out throwing stupid amounts of cash "superstars" who lets be honest are only there for the cash 90% of the time, the better the comp as a whole will be.

You dont know how a player is going to go around the club until he is there and playing. We have had a dud or two over the years but fair bet we are no orphans there and the money being paid is absolutely no correlation to the quality of the bloke around the club, either way.
Mannum copped a fair pasting via big Pete Dalwood this week, the standard would be a couple pages skinnier if it wasnt for MFC. Not everything printed has merit and while he has given that impression, Mannum is not imploding as a result of recruiting well. Just a hiccup along the way.
Plenty was made first round about not winning premierships in April when we rolled Imps, Even now still a very long way to go for everyone. Plenty of speed bumps for us all to get over.

Tips for this round...Ramblers vs Mannum.. 18pts
Tailem vs Jervois... 18pts
Mypo vs Meningie... 24pts
Imps fortunate to have the next 2 weeks off. Will no doubt give their sore players a good rest.

News around town (and on local radio) is that Tyson Edwards has signed for Meningie. His brother used to coach them and of course knows Brodie Martin...... Will reportedly have minor knee surgery clean out and play the remainder of the season....

It will be interesting to see how accurate this rumour is, i've got some doubts about its accuracy but we'll find out in due course. Also, if true, would be interesting to see how the Bears could fit a 4 pointer into their side, (unless he was cleared to Meningie when Duane was coaching them a few years ago).

Thanks for the info, will be interesting to follow his progress, obviously he'll dominate and he could be enough to see the Bears win the flag.

I will still only believe it when he lines up, but would be good to see him running around here.... Not sure it will be enough for Meningie to win the flag, but I guess they haven't been too far away so will definitely help them no doubt..
