I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

The hfl have once again shown their inability to make the tough calls. The tv senior colts player who assulted the kangy player after the game saturday with his father and a mate has received a 3 week suspended sentence and kangys have been given a $500 suspended fine for making a club report.... What an absolute joke!!!

1250 Express - i vaguely recall talk there was another report during the game?

Didnt i here one of the boys got a fractured cheek bone from kicking or stomping or what ever happened?

Was there any reasoning they gave for the decisions? sounds like it must of been a he she said affair, was there any witnesses?

How can you be fined for making a report? and a suspended sentence makes no sense. Sounds like something the SFL would do.

3 weeks for a dad and son beating up another player?? thats insane... should be a lifetime ban from any football game for the father... plus criminal charges and the lads involved should be shown the door from Torrens Valley and the HFL... if what you've said is true.. pathetic.

Let me guess, "not guilty" from the "club" report?

The HFL shows once again it is a "toothless tiger". Disgraceful leadership & lack of guidance by a bunch of gutless individuals.

the on field incident was not followed up by the league or tribunal as the umpire refused to stand up in front of the hfl and admit he may have been wrong... although mick taylor was livid when he heard about this incident and i believe the umpire in question may not be seen in the hfl for a while.

kangy took 4-5 witnesses who saw the whole incident to the tribunal (one of who i believe was a cop) and tv had 2 written statements (one saying it was out of character for the tv player and one other). the tv player in question concocted some rubbish excuse but his story had more holes than a siv and the league found him guilty but just gave him the three week suspended sentence and torrens valley a suspended $500 fine.

the other player and parent who held the kangy boy down were not even talked to by the hfl and have had no penalties.

i wonder if this case should have gone to the tribunal (usually reserved for on field incidences) or should have been dealt with solely by the league directors? seems very soft when a player can swear at an umpire and get weeks!

as had i... buti dont think the tribunal has the power to deregister the players only the league directors do and i dont know if any of those people on on the tribunal.

id expect kangy to call owen and seek some clarification on the decision and id imagine the kid who was hit will follow it up further with the police so some justice is done

hey all, i have never wrote on the forum before but have been reading it for years. I have read some posts regarding the incident on the weekend regarding the kangy and tv player/father and i just couldn't hold back any longer.
This is an absolute disgrace from the board regarding the penalties handed down.
I appreciate the fact that the board members have a tough gig, one for which i couldn't do personally, but for such a major incident to occur and then a small penalty handed down, is not good enough. I play in the central div but have a lot of mates playing at various clubs in the country div, and i would be fuming if i was in their shoes.
The penalties handed down should reflect the poor disgard for not only the league but for the law. To give a small SUSPENDED fine and matches is outragous. Not only have these people (players/father) in question committed a lawful crime by assult, they have also, i feel, tarnished the integrity in which this wonder game has been built on for years.
I feel there should be a further penalty handed down by either the club or the league, because from an outsider looking in, it doesn't send a confident message to anyone willing to play in the league/s.

Also, how can a club be fined for making a report?
This is very confusing.
