Round 11 Trades and Discussion

Postby CoverKing » Mon May 31, 2010 4:00 pm

Big price drops around the place this week.

Iv still got Kennelly on hte pine and considering doing a straight swap with Ryan Hargrave from the Bullies. He was 510+ at the start of the year and after an indifferent start, he could be extremeley handy in defenece.. Has the ability to post 120s consistently, and after being out of form this year, somewhat similar to the bullies, it may just change around for him soon!

Any other good buys? ROK dropped another 50k on the weekend. Pretty sad when you drop the same amount as points you score on the weekend.

No trades for me. Was considering cashing in Nason if the right downgrade rookie was available, but he posted his highest score for the year and it will be in his rolling average for another couple of games and has quite a bit more money to make. Could make a great sideways trade for a fallen premium (Shaw?) further down the track.

Looking at a no-trade week this week in SC and with McGlynn to come back soon (pray) I should have a pretty decent midfield although Ablett and Barlow are notable absentees.

Midfield:

Dal Santo
Swallow
McGlynn
Goodes
Gibbs
Bartel

EMG: Martin and Stevenson.

Hesitant about trading Martin. Been consistent all year, handy bench cover.

Defence is my concern as I don't want to be stuck with Josh Hunt and Carazzo has been used in tagging roles in the past few weeks

Why does the tribunal continue to ridicule itself? If Hille can get off, but Franklin get done, then they have truly lost the plot.

Agreed. There didn't appear to be too much in it.
No mention of the Richmond player who clean up Ebert in the match review panel report.
Ask Colin Sylvia how he feels about their latest decision.

Aim this week: boost the mid-field.

Out: D Beames (Coll), T Swift (WCE)
In: M Murphy (Carl), J Gysberts (Melb)

Midfield from:
Pendlebury, S- Avg:104.30 $514,100
Barlow, M- Avg:112.78 $494,500
Boak, T- Avg:94.90 $450,900
Gysberts, J- Avg:94.00 $129,200
Trengove, J- Avg:78.00 $366,000
Masten, C- Avg:56.50 $295,300
Chapman, P- Avg:125.30 $620,200
Murphy, M- Avg:110.90 $515,400

Quite content with my midfield now, despite lacking Judd/Ablett, is capable of strong, consistent results.

I say no. If his late-withdrawal was hamstring-related they won't bother flying him to Adelaide.

Masten is out for 4 weeks with a dicky knee.

yeah Dogmatic, but I believe he's a better prospect on the bench than Swift, & I can cover him.

Armstrong, Rohan, Deboer, Picken, Howlett would be better options.

already had Swift in the side- not going to waste trades on bench players, unless it engineers a gun into the starting lineup.

I thought it was strange you were looking at it now when Swift is playing and Masten isn't.

The trouble I've found in the past season and a half is that Melbourne rest their young players too often for DT, Trengove and Scully both played well then got rested. I seen it several times last season with Watts, Grimes, Frawley, Garland, the only difference was that Watts didn't have any good games before being rested.
I wouldn't mind picking up Gysberts but I'm scared off for this reason.

time to downgrade some of the cash cow rookies and upgrade T Walker (what a flop) to the Pav, my forward line needs another premium and he is about the only one left.

Not sure if I should keep trading or if I should sit back and try and get to the finals with some trades left.

AFL.com dreamteam

Backs: Hodge, Carrazzo, Malceski, Waters, Nason, Hargrave, Farmer (Kennelly, Silvangi)
Mids: Ablett (c), Hayes, Barlow, Boyd, Judd, Mitchell (Trengove, Rohan)
Rucks: Sandi, Cox (Warnock, Roughhead)
Forwards: Chapman (vc), Pavlich, O'Keefe, Brown, Higgins, Podsiadly, Rockliff (Grant, Hughes)

Had 7 donuts on the bench last week (Rohan covered for Barlow) and Grant the only one to score on the bench.
Should I trade to try and get some more cover or should I let it slide for now?

I've got 9 trades left and $3,200 in the bank.

Silvagni and Trengove should return. You'll have an emergency in each line, except for Ruck (you could downgrade Warnock for Skipper and net yourself about $100K).
