Friday night was likely the best footy I've seen us play since the 90's, but there needs to be more performances along those lines and we will certainly face a challenge when our depth is tested this year.

Good signs for the future though and I'm hopeful we're on the right track to developing into a "real deal" outfit.

Certainly the best footy the Legs have played in many years Friday night....us Legs supporters have been waiting far too long to see a tough physical presence on the ground..their hardness around the packs, leg speed and overall skills were fantastic...only early days but Basset seems to have injected a new level of enthusiasm and confidence at the Parade....something that was sadly missing under the previous coaching regime...

Whats a "real deal"?

Premiership contender? No way.

Making up the numbers? You bet.

If they were the real deal they would have beaten North by 10 goals today, better than North, Port and South but not the real deal yet.

Of course they are the real deal -what more do they have to do ????

They have verged on being embarrassing the last few years and have now beaten Sturt, Glenelg and North who have constantly finished above them and all you ave to do is WIN.
The question isnt are they favourites for the flag, and on form they are one of a few contenders to try and take on the Dogs.

ps. And I hate Norwood more than most

I think Walker has played 3 games and needs to play 5 to qualify.
Rodan has played two but I cant see him getting another 3.
I dont think Thomas has played a game at Norwood (other than a trial game or two at the start of the year).
Will Young has qualified but is out for 6 weeks following a knee op.

But has Taylor Walker been a travelling emergency for the Crows at all and been held back from playing for Norwood?

Also, has Norwood had a bye where Taylor Walker played for the Norwood the week before that bye and did not get promoted to the Crows the week Norwood had the bye?

Because, under the new qualification rules, if a player is the travelling emergency for an AFL side and doesn't play for their respective AFL club, this still counts a qualifying game towards the 5 required to be eilgable for SANFL finals.

As is the same scenario if a players' SANFL side has the bye and the player in question played SANFL the week before the bye and is not promoted to AFL duties, this also counts.

So in essence, an AFL listed player could actually only play 1 or 2 games for their SANFL club but be involved in a scenario mentioned above and conversly qualify for SANFL finals.

Cheers CP, I figured that was the case but thought I would try and explain the 'loop hole' somewhat that can get players eligable for SANFL finals...

I look at it the other way. Instead of counting how many games he's played for Norwood, you look at how many games he hasn't played for the Crows, for reasons apart from injury.
He's missed 3 games for the crows. Much easier that way.

no beat a very much under strength side on there home deck which is not comparable to any ground the finals will be played at.

If they get a run like that with the umpires ever again ill become a port supporter.

If thats the closest competition to the Dogs we are home and hosed for premiership number 9

Who's next ?
Bring em on !

OK OK beating an understrength Centrals on our home ground is a long way from winning a premiership but the way we did it will add just another brick in the wall to our belief and confidence.

You can not do much more than win.

Norwood were also missing Bown, Trotter, Young, Doyle and Gorringe.
Walker a wild card to play 2 more games and qualify for finals.

2 sides, 21 players each. Rare to see two sides both at full strength play one another, so at the end of the day 2pts is 2pts.
