Owen won't know how to handle this, the HFL might have to make a "real decision" involving the Hughes clan and they're not too good at that sort of thing!

Kangarilla could have made their own statement on cowardly acts of thuggery by either sacking or a least reporting their own player after what occurred in the match against kersbrook.

I'm sure that all clubs and supporters would agree that off field and behind the play acts of violence have no place in football.
The allegations that have been made are serious, and if true, it would be good to see Torrens Valley appropriately discipline the player or players involved.
I'm not sure however on that basis you feel that the Club should be punished.
Should a club in some way be penalised for the off field behaviour of a player or supporter?

yes a club is responsible for its players and supporters actions imo.

Deliberatly stomping on a guys face after cleaning him up off the ball and pinning a kid down and smacking him after the game while your parents hold the guys down is alot worse than the hit against kersbrook. And the brookers arnt exactly the cleanest team either. Tapp was given free reign to clean anyone up the entire time he played

Discipline as a whole has been an issue around the league for a little while now IMO. There have been more incidents involving not just players but spectators in the last 5 or so years than in the entire rest of the time ive been involved in footy. The problems stems from a pretty toothless administration that arent willing to put their foot down in such situations. For acts as serious as what happened on the weekend and some previous, large bans need to be put in place, especially to stamp it out in the junior grades.

If Tappy was going to get you he told you what was going to happen and you would see it coming not a king hit behind play and then run to the coaches box to hide

For your info PPLions the HFL have had sanctions, fines and all sorts of other acts taken out against clubs over supporters behaviour. That's when Club Committees have to make tough decisions for the good of the game.

Sorry boys for mine it starts with the umpires and HFL. I too have not seen so many thuggery incidents as have occured over the last few years. The HFL have to make sure that the system encourages umpires to make reports through correct compensation at the expense, if found guilty, of the offending club. The tribunal has to then back the umpires and impose heavy penalties.
The days of football being a thugs sport are long gone. The majority of us have to turn up to work on Monday, have families or the likes, accept injuries from legal acts of play but should not have to endure acts of thuggery. If it happened to me it would be see you in court dickhead.

Umpires and Football Leagues need to understand that they have a duty of care to provide a safe environment for players to participate in games. The current reluctance by umpires to report means that they are basically condoning violent acts and encouraging further incidents by showing that there are no consequences for their actions.
Umpires and Leagues may be leaving themselves open to legal action if they continue to allow such conduct.

Agree with your comments Benchmark regarding the coaching down at Torrens Valley way.

Ol money bags is just a magnet board holder, the brains is driven from Smitheron although with the side travelling along and with the players they have purchased smitheron could probably spend the arvo pulling himself and they will still be hard to stop.

Some one must have told ol money bags his son can't play though as i didnt see him the other week or is he injured?

Hopefully Echunga can give them a shake anyway as i dont think anyone else will be able to.

Sounds like U/17s at Valley also need some discipline installed if the above reports are true maybe money bags can have a word

this is an incident which should never happen, let alone between kids and with an adult joining in. i hope torrens valley do play div 1 next year, they will learn the hard way from bigger sides, where if you are going to hit people behind the play u will get ur own back.

is anyone able to mention names of the people involved? i think some people would like to see these heros running around again and see if they put their head over the footy.

What is the maximium penalty the league can apply to TV if these allegations are true.Seems to me the penalty that this club desreves is a premiership points loss in all grades , a 2 year good behaviour bond, a massive fine and a prevention from promotion until their bond is finalized.Hit them where it hurts for such disgusting behaviour.Completely wrong to exonerate the club for player and supporter behaviour.

Jumped over to read what happened as was mentioned on Central Forum. Nasty stuff!
IMHO The HFL Central division has been Umpired and managed well in the last 4-5 years. All in brawls, behind-the-play hits and attitudes of coaches(and clubs) condoning this have ceased. B Grade has been enjoyable to play! Acts that have occurred, including club officials abusing umpires, have been acted on appropriately.
The main problem that I see (and will remain for as long as football remains) is depth of umpires. How do we solve this? Someone smarter than me can answer that one.
We want Vaughn.

If anyone can answer this bit, there's a guy at AFL House at Docklands in Melbourne that is prepared to pay you upfront $1,000,000.00 with an ongoing bonus of $1,000,000.00 per annum.
I reckon all other Aussie Rules leagues might be able to offer you something also! (*) :-bd

I noticed on the clearances page, 8 lads changed from Strathalbyn to Macclesfield last week. I know geographically it's a logical move but anyone got any gossip about why this happened? Maccie building up stocks? Lack of opportunities at Strath? none of the above?

Jardarf, good question my friend..

to the best of my knowledge these 8 lads are all bat for the other team, so it seemed like a logical choice to move onto maccy

None of the above, these lads i believe are jnr colts.Strath have a lot of kids not getting a game so some of them have gone to maccy on a loan basis as i thnk they are a bit short on with their kids.

I also jumped over to read about this incident, after a very serious incident over the weekend in Port Lincoln footy.

My understanding is that a player can be suspended for a max of 9 matches without right of appeal, ten or more matches and they can appeal to the SANFL at their own cost.

I believe a CLUB can be fined UP TO, but not exceeding $5000 per offence, before they can appeal, again, at their own cost.
