Ladders after Rd 10

Postby scott » Sun May 30, 2010 10:43 pm

League: After sitting in first after seven rounds, the Eagles have fallen to fourth and are a heartbeat from fifth following their third straight loss, and first at their 'fortress'. The even bigger story was their opposition, who were dead last after four rounds and now sit in third with the second best percentage in the league behind the almighty.

Reserves: The top three sides in the seconds suffered losses, including Sturt and the Eagles losing for the first time in their 'home' grounds. Nothing much to report other than the log jam hasn't improved, with five teams sitting on 10 points and four of those split by 1.75 percent.

Under 18s: The ladder hasn't changed this round, but the results have given us clarity. Port Adelaide showed up Glenelg to prove that they are the team to beat this year and have taken a strong lead at the top of the table. While Centrals have proven they're not the worst with their first win of the year against the still winless South. For the past six weeks, the Panthers have sat at the bottom of both the 18s and reserves tables, and the league team isn't far behind.

Amazing that Central have only won 3 third quarters and 3 final quarters for the year. Similarly, North have only won 12 of 36 quarters, yet sit just a game out of the five!

Could we see a final day where some clubs supporters have the tranny pressed to the ear following other games to see who plays finals and who misses out? Certainly a far cry from recent years when often a Final 4 looked a sensible prospect at times.

South is the only club which doesn't have one of its 3 teams in the five.

After Rd 11, Norwood would have played every team in the comp at least once. Is this the same for all other teams? If not, at what round will every club have played each other at least once?

At the moment it looks like the dogs are clearly top (a game, percentage clear with a game in hand) really tight for the other spots in the finals, then a break to the 4 outside the top 5. Fast forward a few rounds no doubt it could look very different but more and more it's the dogs looking like minor premiers, Glenelg, West, Norwood and the Eagles fighting for the double chance with Sturt and North needing to get something turning around to press their claims leaving South and Port to battle for the spoon.

Same with the Eagles. Says something about the depth at the club.
