He has also proven to be able to lead groups of people to follow his ideas and ideals. Cricket does not need his ideas.

Thanfully the sub continent and African countries have blocked the appointment of Howard as ICC President, the role now likely to go to former New Zealand Cricket chief Sir John Anderson

Sorry I've forgotten where I picked this up - I copied it earlier today then had to go out:
Former Indian cricket captain Bishan Singh Bedi says the way Mr Howard's nomination was rejected by the ICC was crude and may have harmed the game.
He says Indians need to look at themselves before calling others racist: "You know we Indians are the biggest racists in the world. If you look at the daily newspapers, the number of killings that are going on in the name of race and caste and all this rubbish," he said. "It's unreal. What are we talking about?"

I was never a John Howard fan despite being a Liberal Party member, and I'm not convinced he is the man for the job over, more appropriately, a former player.
However, this thread looks like it has become a retirement home for vindictive lefties, who just want to wallow in the misfortune of a yesterday's man, living in their own past as much as he may be..

Unfortunately, yet predictably, the former member for Bennelong has become the issue.

Not the fact the ICC has again been compromised, this time by a Mugabe stooge.

Reakon Honest John's political nous and rat-cunning would've made him perfect for the job...

Psyber I reckon that all people, lefties or otherwise, with a global outlook would consider that JH's record on the international front was absolutely appalling.

For me it's just satisfying to see some of his bad karma coming back to bite him.

Didn't Howard call Nelson Mandela a terrorist? A vote for Obama is a vote for terrorists? I think he even made some pretty awful "yellow peril" type comments earlier in his political career too. The issue should not be the rest of the world not rubber stamping his ascension but that Cricket Australia had the audacity to put a cretin like John Howard up for nomination in the first place.
