Round 11 - Port Magpies v WWT @ Alberton Sun 6 June 2:10pm

Postby GWW » Sat May 29, 2010 12:07 am

The Eagles will be confident of notching up a win in this round 11 clash, however the young Magpies playing at home are likely to put up a strong showing.

A few more extra options up forward might be the difference in this game, and i tip WWT to win by about 2 goals.

Dare I say it again this week - this is a real danger game. The maggies have been competitive in most of their matches this season without winning too many. The Eagles coming of 3 losses in a row must be hungry and will be keen to get a win on the board. It will be good to get Grocke back in the team this week perhaps Salter and Broadbent too if we're lucky, should lose Schulz to the Power though unfortunately. It's always good to get a win at Alberton and this week will be no exception. I'm anticipating an Eagles win in a closely fought, tight contest perhaps by 17 points.

Must win game leading into the BYE.

If the Eagles are to be considered SERIOUS Finals Contenders then they simply MUST win this game.

I think Port are a FAR better team than their record of 2 wins shows - some narrow losses.

I will be picking the Eagles to win but with NO sence of confidence.

Agree this is a big danger game. Over the years, we have been professional enough not to lose these games when other clubs sometimes have.
Doubt we'd get Broadbent back. Schultz and Salter might depend on other Power injuries, but these might be covered by Davenport and Motlop coming back, so we might end up with both.
Again, leg speed looks an issue. Only seen Port a couple of times on the telly, but they look quickish, and if they eliminate some skill errors could put the Eagles in real trouble.
See this going one of two pretty different ways. Port having a day where everything goes right and their skills improve, and upset us by 8-10 goals, or else us clawing through a tough, scrappy enounter played more on our terms. Odds say the latter, so would think a 3-4 goal win.

Looking forward to this one. Eagles look vulnerable at the moment and lack stability up forward with AFL ins & outs. Might just be another win for the taking here.

The result is almost a side issue compared to how much the Eagles can develop the younger lads for next year ! We just havent the midfielders to be anything other then average unfortunately . Recruiting is the only way we will improve in the future .

Biglands (if he plays) will play second ruck changing off the bench.

Not sure what to make of Thompson just yet. He has played forward and back this year but for mine looks far more comfortable in the backlines.

Why surprised at the Jacky selectoin Micky? His best his far better than what Banner and Cheep (similar players) offer and his worst is on par with Cheep. Both players are probably equal when comparing their dislike of body contact. The thing is that Jacky knows he has one last chance before season's end to justify his position on an AFL list. I'm sure he knows it and if he is serious about footy he'll be putting 110% effort in

Really should be an interesting contrast this game , with Port again trying to run the Eagles off their feet ( they have undoubtedly the players to do it ) while we need to make a contest of everything for four quarters just like the physical old Magpie sides , oh the irony ! I couldnt write Magpie / Power as everyone knows physical isnt part of the Port Flowers after last weeks effort against Richmond ........ what a mad bunch of Gaylords , so soft it was sad ! You can see why the Flowers didnt want Schultz as they arent interested in tough players for this week
