Have heard Ben Eckerman from Bridgewater went down with a pretty serious leg injury last week at training. Not sure if this is old news... can anyone confirm?

I'm not sure if my source on this occassion is very reliable but he stated Eckerman broke his ankle. I would've thought this would be well known by now if its true... so I have my doubts.

I think the business is expanding and with all the trips abroad the great mind that is Vaughan is far to important to concern himself with such small things like football

hi guys
just flew in this morning and yes business is booming very close to finalising the deal.
but sorry to dissapoint you overthehill football is still number one. i will be looking to take a step back in my business if this deal goes ahead and look to recruit a fresh face as managing director. this will give me more time to concentrate on what is important... the mighty RAIDERS.

as for the blackwood match gutted by the result but have to take what positives we can from the match and look forward to ironbank this week. after their recent turn around in form we will be going into the game as the hunters.
lets all just hope the FORTRESS can claim another victim.

hi ATS
dont have much experience in sports medicine but judging by last weeks effort bens ankle is not broken. he put in a galant performance. although knowing what a huge pain tolerance he has it would not surprise me if our courageous captain was playing on a broken ankle. he is up there as one of my real mail medal fancies.

vaughn you are a comedian. Bridgwater will b lucky to win 4 games for the year, no idea how he is supposed to win the medal from there. for the record ironbank will smash you this week. Fisher from mt barker looks heads and shoulders above the rest or maybe d ebert from uraidla, unless the cheif is back for another late charge.

hi magpie
think you will find that bradley was a runaway winner last year without playing every game and in a side that lost more games than it won so go figure. eckermann is proven to be an umpires favourite in previous comps. believe he won a junior level magarey.
oh and for the record put a cork in it!

vaughn i hope your not comparing mark bradly (the best HFL ruckman since randel pearse) to eckerman who is an avg hills a grader nothing more nothing less. eckerman wouldnt be in the top 10 midfielders in the comp. for example- Block, fisher, mclean, eberts, magary, mcormick, klun, kreig, martin, gags, barta. they all have bigger influences on games of football.

Brad Yoemans is better than all of those listed above. Beat Fischer easily when IB played Barker.

Whilst totally agreeing with you on that list of players MM (would all be in my side before Eckermann also, no worries there), the great V-man has a point in that dont always count that winning games "should" lead to more votes...

Probably going to open a can here but I have always been uncomfortable with this false belief... The medal should be based on the best & fairest player on the ground, nothing to do with the scoreboard or ladder position, pick 1 out of the 42 blokes running around grabbing that red leather thing that stood out as the best player on the day.

For mine the chief proved that last year, and the fact that many opposition supporters/posters on here agree (he was a worthy winner) back that up.

hi magpie
no I was not comparing those two players in anyway shape or form.
you asked how he was supposed to claim the medal in a team that in your opinion will only win 4 games and i was making the point that winning games is irrelevant as far as the mail medal is concerned.
dont know if you have seen much of the mighty RAIDERS mate but it is bens dash and direction when playing half back that makes him such a dangerous player.

This may rub you the wrong way V man but i've watched all but 1 game this year and i must admit that i have been suprised that he has been in the best in a couple of them. He certainly oozes class at times but i think he would be a lot better if the team was travlin better. A huge thing i have noticed though, is that, he is a very good leader. When he speaks the players listen and thats what you want from a cptain. He does lead by example but just don't think he gets enough support from his team mates.

Don't think the coach will use this as an excuse but injuries have hit the Raiders yet again this season. Charles, Marsch, Malinovski, Cotsaris, Fosdike to name a few will be or have been missing for a while now. As i said before the season started, they wont be world beaters this year but it could be a reason why the improvement hasn't really come through yet. Hopefully they show a bit more in the second half of the year and give supporters (apart from V man coz he will no matter) something to cheer about!
