Good Samaritan - your nominees please

Postby gadj1976 » Tue Jan 25, 2011 1:21 pm

I thought it'd be a good idea to create a topic for Good Samaritans.

There aren't many of them left, however I had an incident yesterday/last night that made me realise there are still some out there.

My daughter turns 4 today and my Auntie who lives in the Western burbs rang to say "happy birthday" to her about 6pm. She was very apologetic as she said she'd lost my daughters card.

She said she was driving home from the local shops, and had put my daughters card and her purse on the roof of the car. You guessed it, she got in, and drove away. About 3kms down the road, a lady pulled up beside her and said "your purse is on the roof". She got out but realised the card was long gone. That's one act of good samaritan-ship. However, last night, the card turned up in our letterbox. The envelope was torn in the corner, and ripped in one part near the bottom, but the card itself made it unscathed.

So to whoever sent the card on, thankyou very very much! I hereby nominate you for the Good Samaritan award, 2011.

The other week i had bin day off as a RDO.

I was fast asleep when I heard the truck pull up outside my house and realised I had forgotten to put the bins out

I raced up the stairs & out side to find the bin guy had hopped out of truck and walked down my driveway (you can't even see the bins from street) and was wheeling them both out so he could empty them.

Certainly not the mongrels who found my lost wallet last night and instead of trying to return it, tried to buy something with the credit card .

That's tops WLF. You should ring them up and let them know. They would really appreciate the positive feedback.

I always make an effort to feedback when someone goes above and beyond for me. People are always quick to complain, but much slower to compliment unfortunately.

The missus wrote out a belter of an email and she got a phone call back saying how this is one of the first positive letters they have had about bin guys and she will check who was on our route and they will be commended.

Still amazes me!!

We live around some big red gums and the other day a nice big limb fell into the park,
I dragged a few branches home to cut for fire wood. (by hand saw)

The next day returning after work was a big pile of chain sawed red gum (perfect sized pieces for the fire) piled high up against my gate. I had no idea who did it, so we thanked the wood fairies and began to speculate.

As I was walking down the road weeks later, my neighbour a few houses down asked if I got the wood. (first time I had properly talked to him) he had cut it and wheelbarrowed it up hill to make the pile next to my gate.

I thanked him and we had a chat. He offered to cut more if I was keen to wheel it up the hill. It should last a good part of winter!

Good to hear that it panned out. Who would've thought a garbo would've been in contention for a good samaritan award?

My daughter turned 8 today, she got some money to spend for a present of her choice, she gave her 5 year old brother $10 to get himself something too. Not much but it was a great gesture.
