What about if someone followed your example ("Ok so you work for 20 years, pay tax, live your life, save what money you can then when you quit your job you need to spend your savings?") .. However they didn't have any (or had very little) savings .. Would they then receive funding?
If you quit you have to wait upto 8 weeks, if you have savings its longer.
But you touched on a good question! What if you dont have savings? Struggle town!
Also one other issue i have with centrelink (while im whinging) is how they determine how much people receive. I know a single mum with a 3yr old son who is hearing impaired. She receives close to $3k a month from centrelink as well as health care card and discount on other stuff like all mums etc do, but the kid is now drama, she doesnt pay for his hearing aids or speech therapy, she sits around most of the day doing not much, doesnt work etc, the kid is no trouble at all.
Thats a hell of a lot of money to be getting!
