Is it legal to fill a position before applications close, or can employers do what they want?

i guess employers can do what they want, and there are some jobs that are advertised that are already gone

Happens in government where they are legally obliged to advertise roles externally even if they don't really need to.

Yeah, I'm sure the employers can do waht they want, it is just frustrating. I thought it would probably happen in the government with some of the policies they are required to adhere to. My couple were in the private sector - one was advertised Saturday, rang up for more info on the Tuesday, and was told it was already gone even though the due date was the next week. Well, that's stiff sh!t for them, because they missed out on the best prospective applicant (well, I have to believe that :D )

In a similar vein, I wonder how many houses are sold beforbehind the scenes, but the RE agents put up a for sale sign for a couple of days and then add a sold sticker to make it look like it was a quick sale and the market is hot.

Continuing attempts to erode privacy!
This one by insurance groups - but Medicare Australia are doing the same sort of thing.
This example came from a medical discussion forum.
Quite often if you talk to the patient you find they thought they were signing a consent for the insurer to ask specific questions of their GP and had no idea it would be used to try to acquire their entire medical record. I once got a request from a law firm in which the patients alleged signature on the consent did not match the signature I had on record.

Received by a GP group:
Dear xxxxx,

Re: Request for Medical Information
Mr Patient Name
DOB: XX/XX/XXXX

Mr Patient Name has applied to AVIVA for Insurance services and has stated that Xxxxxxx Medical Centre has provided health services to them in the past. In order for AVIVA to process this insurance request, they have asked us to obtain the medical record for Mr Patient Name.

Please be assured that the information you supply is treated in strict confidence. A copy of the written authority from Mr Patient Name to approach you accompanies this letter.

The Medical Record for Mr Patient Name can be sent to us by clicking here and entering your practice user name and password to access our website. From here the required record can be extracted from your Clinical System and sent to us electronically in three easy steps.

To be reminded of the required username and password, either call us on (03) 9284 3344 or click on a link in the website login screen to have the information emailed to you.

The standard fee for Medical Information of this type is $75.00 inclusive of GST. Please invoice Zedmed eXchange and we will arrange for payment within 24 hours of receipt of the information and your invoice. Please include your ABN number and EFT payment details on the invoice.

If you wish to charge more than the standard fee for this information, please contact us on the details below as soon as possible as we will need to authorize the payment with our client.

The GP (in Qld) wrote: My response was to send (via fax not unencrypted e-mail) a 'standard' Insurance company invoice for $(profanity filter) plus GST, with the cover letter that says we don't routinely just give out notes, that we only only answer questions...

Still awaiting a response.

Having some oxygen thief or thieves attempt to knock off a set of Christmas lights from the front garden, guessing when they couldnt get the power pack to go with it they just decided to pinch what they could so they just ripped the wires out and left one light and the cord to power it. Certainly dont have a replica of the brewery display happening but it brightens the street up...just won't be as bright for the rest of the month
Trust the process.

The 5aa Allstars band trying to worm their way into the New Year festivities at Glenelg at the expense of a great local group by going straight to the Holdfast Bay council rather than the agent who is organising the event.

Agreed, either get rid of it or get rid of the umpires and do it all off the TV replay.

The crap thing is, is that I wasn't deliberately speeding because I know that stretch of road between the two towns is notoriously patrolled 24 hours a day, either by camera or car.

I unknowingly crept and paid the price - and I wasn't showing cleavage
