Another great place is the Gawler Arms on Murray St, Gawler.

Pretty much the closest you'll ever get to a Sizzler set up in SA now (no cheesy bread though). You buy a main, and it includes the soup/bread/salad/vegetable/dessert bar. Quality of the food is fantastic for that sort of set up.

Assagio out at Newton is not bad but I've only been there twice with a mate and his Italian wife..
Jolley's food is good but a bit pricey unless it is on someone else's expense account..

Agree Beijing and La Tratt, both very good food and reasonable prices. Shankers Indian restaurant on Prospect Road is good food and value. Someone said they like the Walkers Arms, over priced ordinary food IMHO we hardly ever go there despite the fact it is 2-3 minutes walk from our house and we eat out a fair bit. I would rate all other pubs in a 2-3km radius of the Walkers as far superior to it in almost all aspects. The older Walkers pub that burnt down was much better.

Lets hear about your favourite restaurant and whether or not you regard the menu prices and wine list prices to be good, bad or indifferent. I'll lead with one example. For something different I'll often take my crew to Skillogalee in Sevenhill near Clare.
Beautiful setting, lovely local wine - the basket press shiraz is to die for and at $24 is a snip. However, you won't get a main under $34 and although the food is really nice, it aint worth that.

Agree with this.

I met some friends who live north of the city at Assagio Cafe, Newton, for dinner one evening last week.
Although it is Cafe style the Lamb stew I had was good and so was the Tiramisu
Prices are reasonable.

I went to The korean bbq resturaunt on jetty rd glenelg last week. It was amazing great food and great value. We had the dumplings as an entree and spicy pork and spicy chicken as our mains .They both come with rice and salads. The food is cooked for you in front of you on your table it is very interesting and great service. The total bill was $65 dollars which included 4 soft drinks aswell which i thought was very good value

For an All-You-Can-Eat venue, Fresh Choice at Marion is pretty reasonable. Around $22 on a Friday or Saturday night, but overall, good food and a solid selection.

The steak was melt in the mouth, the Morton Bay bugs huge and although a costly exersice it was, and all 4 on the table agreed, as good a meal as you could possibly ask for. I'm happy to pay $40 for a steak and $20 for Bug entree if you get this sort of size bug! 3 of them as entree!!!

A steak from Gaucho's would be the centre piece of my last meal request!

My missus bought home tea from her workplace kitchen.

2 x Crumbed Chicken Breast stuffed with something bloody good, and a mega load of veggies, and a kick arse gravy all for the costly sum of $8

On the topic on all-you-can-eat, I went to Charlies Diner (the Paralowie one) about a month ago for Dad's 50th. Haven't been there for about 4 years, and now I know why. Place has gone real downhill. Quality of the food is quite poor, little variety, and the less said about the dessert bar the better.

That's a safe move. Enough time to let the food poisoning settle in.

Madame Wu's @ Norwood

I doubt I'll ever find a Pad Thai as good as those bought from the street vendors in Chiang Mai, but this place comes pretty close. I am a noodle fiend, so I'll admit to not having tried much outside their noodle dishes, but they have always been tasty. And good prices too, especially for a restaurant sitting on The Parade.

I had a Rump Surn'n'turf, Mrs.Boon a Chick'Schnit Burger, the Juniors Salt'n'pepper squid and a kids Fish'n chips for $70. My steak was awesome, the Mrs barely got through the burger and Junior Boon claimed it the best squid ever while little Miss Boon was stoked to get real fish instead if frozen crap.

I cant recommend it highly enough as far as a pub meal goes. Good view of the waitress' too. ;)

We went to the Charlies Diner at the Brighton Hotel last year after winning a free feed there via a raffle. Got there as soon as it opened and there was a line up, thought that was a good sign as it must be good. Anyway it was terrible, food was ordinary and no taste or care in its preparation (major issue with Buffets IMO). Never go back, the prices when paying arent even that cheap.

Not so much a restaurant, but went to The First Commercial Hotel at Port Adelaide today, just near the Lighthouse, and had a top feed again. Mixed grill for $12, which is full to the brim of good quality meat, plus great chips and salad. Will be going back there again for sure.
