1. Vegas - Always wanted to go there and wasnt disappointed
2. San Francisco - My Favourite city, almost european like, so much to see and do, Alcatraz was amazing
3. Scotland - Fascinating place from the cities to the loch's to the golf courses to the villages to the highlands loved it
4. South Coast NSW - very under rated sensational beaches and national parks
5. Yorkes

I know most people love New York but I didnt get into it, just too big and intimidating for my liking!

top place, we loved it when we were there, not too big, easy to walk around, good restaurants and the missus loved it as she could get some clothes made cheaply
we even did a cooking class there, great fun

did you get out to Halong Bay?? now that is a beautiful place

Went to Hanoi, Halong Bay and Ho Chi Minh in January. Thinking of visiting Hoi An and Nha Trang in October. How long would you recommend in Hoi An and what would you recommend doing?

A week easy. Take in Da Nang & Hue whilst in the area.

Hue is a great place as well. The old Capital. Take in the Citadels (Royal & City). Royal Palace and temples/pagodas etc. Go on the Perfume River and visit the several Royal Tombs etc. The Dong Ba market is great. Try some local food. Check out the flag at night at the Citadel. Some great food to be found also.

You'll have to go through Da Nang to get to Hoi An. Stay a night, and that's about it. Not a hell of a lot to do.

Get to Hoi An, and it's game on ! There is plenty of halls, pagodas etc to check out. The Japanese covered bridge is worth a squiz. Dates back to 1593 ! Check out the Lantern shops. Fantastic ! Go to the markets as well, and like Hue this joint has great restaurants. Hire a Cyclo to take you around (fix price etc first). Head to to My Son. It's a World Heritage site, and some say more culturally significant the Angkor Wat. Hire a motor bike and ride to the beaches. Quite nice and the traffic isn't as hectic as other areas of 'Nam. "China" Beach is to the south of Danang, near the Marble Mountains and is worth checking out. We went there from Hoi An on a motorbike and made a day out of it. Great cheap restaurants near the beach too.
And last but not least. This is where you get your clothes tailor made. Easy as !

Hope that helps a tad !

1. Tough choice but I'd have to say Ios, party all night, sleep in, swim, sunbake and do it all over again. Far out was the best drinking place during the day and harmony was an amazing restaurant.
2. Slovenia, a gem in the midst of the hustle and bustle in Europe. Amazing scenery.
3. San Francisco, trendy city with heaps to see and do. Cable cars, Alcatraz etc.
4. Puerto Rico. A little dirty and intimidating at first but really good once you have a look around.
5. Ireland. And in particular Galway. The people are friendly and hilarious, again great scenery.

Apologies to London, Berlin, Prague, Vegas, Barbados, Grenada, St Lucia, Tokyo, Paris, Pag Island (Croatia), Durbrovnik, Edinbrugh, Amsterdam, Munich, Phuket, Santorini, Montego Bay (Jamaica)... All great places but not quite top 5.

1. Camping in a patch of scrub in the Mallee
2. On a houseboat on the Murray River
3. Switzerland (beautiful place!)
4. Scotland (awesome people & scenery!)
5. Home - there's no place like it.

Despite recently coming back from a Europe trip, the local stuff still dominates the list. I reckon we've got it pretty lucky here.
