Yeah i reffed Christies or "The Beach" as they have been labelled for the second time last night and the improvement is clear to see. They will improve all year and challenge all teams as the year goes on. They have a good blend with Brad "the Goose" Gosling who is a 3 time All Australasian Championship player for the State u/18s in 03,04 and 05 =D> leading the troops with 2 other players who have played State league for Onkas in Screetch and the big blonde lad whos name escapes me. Ryan Richter is lightning quick and is their star whilst they have a very handy big fella in the middle. The Jonah Hill look a like has a fair dip and is good entertainment and a slight but nippy fella called Zammit i think. they play with great spirit and are the sought of team i could actually see evolving into a State league team  I actually think they will finish in the Top 5 and when Gaelic 7s breaks into 2 divisions next year im tipping they will be a Div 1 team 8)

The Taints have stolen a few players of the Beach, with Andy Bachmann being a former Christies Beach player, and also Shauny Tanner playing a few games here and there when he isnt carrying the Southern Stingrays and trying to force his way into the Redbacks lineup!

Good to see Christies in with a team - IMHO the future of the Gaelic7s comp is to have no State League teams, and be full of teams based out of existing footy/soccer/rugby/Warcraft clubs with a few state league players leading these teams... and eg playing off the SFL/GSFL footy clubs vs SAAFL footy clubs vibe that is generally the only interesting thing about playing footy trials.

Its pretty hard to keep a secret for too long around Gaelic Park Kevin and i look forward to straightening this out in the next 48 hours :-k

Wow tell us more Wristy! Whats the go? Who is this contract rebel??

Could this be the most contentious trade since "Stevo-Gate" when a young Mike Stevenson left the near bankrupt Taints mid season for the greener pastures of Onkas? which many say was the catalyst for the Taints staging a miraculous resurgence and winning back2back Hannigan Cups and ringing Stevo late night from various clubs

But he got his Hannigan this year! He didn't go without though in those two years with back to back undefeated 7 a side premierships! CT and Swooper- you know how hard it is to win those 7 a sides!

HUGE Round of State League this weekend with all 4 games on Sunday. Even the draw seems to be up for the occasion as its 1 v 2, 3 v 4, 5 v 6 and 7 v 8.

1 v 2 - i have very little interest in.

3 v 4 - should tell exactly where Port Districts are really at as they take on the reigning champs Onkas and will need to win to stay in the 4. I expect this game to be quick and physical. There is a possibility that there will be some mouth watering 1 on 1s. We could well see Gabe Phillips v Jack Mahney and the human glove Aysh Simper will probably go to Stevey Ray Clay.

5 v 6 - The winner will probably find themselves in the 4 at the end of the weekend and the loser may be in a bit of strife. The Saints were very good last week whilst Flinders were not but the Sunday games suit the Reds and if their recruits can step up and their minors continue to play well they will make a charge. Flinders need fabulous Freddy on the park as i dont see anyone who will match up well with him in their line up. Some key match ups are likely to be Mcsorely V JPeg, Zeus v Matty Aldridge and Puck v Backy

7 v 8 - someones gonna sing their club song for the first time this year. I give Irish Australians credit as the people who look after the club do a lot of work and run the club very well. Its a shame that some of their players dont always attend when selected making coach Okey Doackes job a real nightmare. Key matchup will be Carey v Okey Doakey in this one.

This round is a tipsters nightmare as all 4 games truly could go either way :?

Wristy what ended up happening with the player from your club being pursued by another club? Has the player and club been named or has it all been sorted and the player is staying?

Haha yeah he is staying for now. If you read it carefully a few clues were given. The player was/is Cameron "Silent rage" Shenton. The club was GWS and the poacher was Kevin Sheedy. Unfortunately Shents didnt get drafted yesterday but is still a chance to go in the pre-season draft. Im tipping had he of got drafted yesterday he would have said NO anyway and stuck with the greatest Gaelic football club in Australia. :)

Ok fair enough, didn't really read it all
That closely! Where does he play footy locally? Anthony Wilson from our side was apparently in the paper the other day too with his brother because his brother was a chance of being drafted? Not sure if he was or wasn't though

Unfortunately Marty and alex are unavailable this week so those two match ups won't go ahead but Freddie will be back. Few out and a few in should give us a reasonable side and be competitive I hope. Benet copping will be making his debut this week too hopefully.

Can anybody from st brendans advise if they will have enough for 15 a side this week?

Results from this weekends Mens State League

West Ireland defeated Na Fianna by a couple of points (sorry but i couldnt tell you the actual score) Once again the catalyst for the Goats turning round a 3 point half time deficit was "Little" Jack Horan who continues his stellar season and would be leading the Association Medal at this point of the year.

Mitcham 3.8 - 17 def Irish Australians 2.4 - 10 for their first win of the season and their first rendition of "Its a grand old flag". Best for the Hawks was John "Manners" Mason who was well supported by Soxy whilst Cathal was easily Irishs' most dangerous looking player in the game.

St.Brendans 14.9 - 51 def Flinders 3.9 - 18. This score is not a misprint. On a dark day for Flinders i was told that this was there biggest loss in their 29 year history :( . Best for the Saints was Benny Newbs whilst the returning Tony "Hubba Bubba" Huebner managed to snag 6 goals. Young Anthony up forward always looked dangerous for the Reds. This scoreline is another great example of why we must revert back to 15 a side Gaelic Football. 13 a side is a horses a** and it does no good for our State moving forward and facilitates farcial scorelines like the one in this game.

Onkas 3.10 - 19 def Port 2.7- 13. This game saw a new record set for fastest goal in State League as Gabe Phillips found the back of the net in the 16 second of the game albeit after a questionable advantage. Apart from the early setback the game was fairly evenly matched especially in the second half. Best for Onkas was the great Gabe along with "Big" Pedds and Samuel "Chewbacca" Janetski recovery from a corkie earlier in the day to be able to play at full capacity was remarkable. Ports boys all battled hard with Sambo and the Rocket leading the way.

On a day for the record books - yesterday also included "the first person ever to be CUT OFF at the bar at St Mary's"! Take a bow John "Butters" O'Leary (Onkas) who looked like he hadn't been home in 3 days and was quite rightly shown a red card by the Gaelic HQ bar staff...!! :drinkers:
