WEST IRELAND MINORS 5.13-28 def DINGOES 1.8-11
Ryan and Luke were standouts for the Baby Goats and they were very well supported by the shortest player in the Minor team i think his name was Jimmy Garrager. Josh was very good for the Dingoes. Well done to the boys who filled in for the Dingoes who had exams. One of those was Gabe Phillips who played in goals and provided us with the seasons highlight when he came streaming out of goals only to be savagely tackled by his team mate "Angry" Andy Harris![]()

ONKAS 6.11-29 DEF MITCHAM 3.7-16
BEST ONKAS ; GABE, WADE-O AND THE RETURN OF "THE PEDDLAR"
MITCHAM ; C CAREY WAS VERY GOOD, SOXY BATTLED WITH BLASFAMY AND THE BALL AND ROLFY THREW HIS VOICE LIKE NO OTHER HAS BEFORE. OVERALL AN EXCELLENT EFFORT BY THE MITCHAM BOYS TO REALLY CHALLENGE THE REIGNING PREMIER IN WHAT WAS A GOOD CONTEST FOR THE FULL 50 MINS. BIG CROUCHYS GOAL OF THE YEAR NOMINATION WAS A REAL HIGHLIGHT FOR THE HAWKS.
PORT 4.10-22 DEF FLINDERS 0.7-7
BEST PORT ; JOSH "501" LEVI, "ROCKET" ROD SHOWED GREAT LEADERSHIP AND TRUE GRIT, JACK MAHNEY CONTINUES TO IMPROVE EACH WEEK, TOASTY WAS TOASTY AND SA FOOTY.NET/FORUMS OWN "LUTZ" WAS SOLID
FLINDERS ; VALOR THACH ON DEBUT WAS BEST, TODDY BATTLED HARD AND BIG MATT GAVE HIS ALL.
PORT USED THE BALL BETTER, WORKED HARDER DEFENSIVELY AND SHOWED SUPERIOR TEAMWORK TO TAKE THE CHOCOLATES IN THIS ONE. FLINDERS SEVERLY MISSED THE FORWARD IMPOTUS OF FREDDIE AND NEVER LOOKED AS DANGEROUS AS THEY HAVE IN PREVIOUS WEEKS.
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THEIR EXSISTENCE I BELIEVE PORT ARE IN THE 4. WELL DONE TO TOASTY, TROY AND SHANE FOR ALL THEIR EFFORTS IN TAKING THEIR CLUB FROM ITS INFANCY AND WOODEN SPOON TO CONTENDERS

As a club we struggle with Friday night fixtures and called up 5 minors to make up the numbers to ensure we could play 15 a side....hopefully giving the boys some experience in the big time. Probably had about 10 first choice players missing which was always going to make it hard. Congrats to port on moving into the top 4 and time for us to re group and hopefully get a decent team on the park this week and bounce back against st brendans

Na Fianna 1.8-11 drew with St.Brendans 1.8-11.
Good game of Gaelic with the above report telling a pretty accurate account of proceedings. A draw was probably a fair result for both teams albeit in the words of Dennis Pagan "Its like dancing with your sister"
West Ireland 5.12-27 def Irish Aust 0.5-5 (not 100% certain if this is the exact score)
Goats were just far too good with their Irish boys really starting to find form and Jack Horan starting to stamp himself as one of the very best in the comp.
Probably the most dissapointing thing for me personally (apart from not winning-i do like winning stuff) was having to sit out 2 guys who were selected as the Saints only had 14 at the start of the game. To travel from Highbury to St. Marys to be told you cant play after preparing all day Sunday and by limiting your intake on a Saturday night to ensure you are good to go for the game, well that would be devestating. I dont blame St. Brendans as they have had issues with numbers all year and i know this was a genuine situation where 13 a side was their best option.
Having said that i will be putting in a motion that Mens football becomes 15 a side with no exceptions. A game of Gaelic football has 15 players on the field it always has and always will, how we ever allowed this 13 a side crap is beyond me. It changes the game completely and looks more like giant 7 a side to me. There are so many reasons why 13 a side is bad for our game and it must be ended ASAP IMO.
