Dave Aston (#7?) was far and away BOG in the Na Fianna match. The game wouldve been a lot closer if he didn't play...especially with the conditions on the night...his skills, and ability to score from free kicks put Port away, who imo probably had the better of the first half, without putting on enough score board pressure.

Na Fianna's keeper was also good setting up a lot of play down back, and taking the game on. NF's full back also played a very good game, stopping a lot of Port's movement forward, and picking the right option when going forward.

Port will be better if they can learn to be a bit more disciplined, move the ball better in their forward half, and have their midfield help out their defence. A decent effort by them against a much more experienced outfit.

7 i believe is one quite well dressed individual called Ken Fay! Asto i believe was 19.
Terry Javor III (the third) was very strong in goals, but can people stop talking up our full back please
The Port boys applied some awesome pressure at times, but with inexperienced players their skills in difficult conditions hurt them. They will become a good team in time.

No.7 was "The KenDog" Fay. Speaking to him late in the game neither of us thought he had his best game. I guess it shows the supreme class and skill of him as a Gaelic player that we know he can be better but to others he is still considered outstanding. It is true that he had very sure skills with his pick ups and hand toes that perhaps he and i both took for granted when discussing his performance. He does have the wonderful job of taking the free kicks inside the 45 however which sees him regularly brought into the play. Dave was actually number 17 i think but they are both tall lean types. David is just the slightly more unstable as seen on many a SAAFL field ;)
Your points highlighting the breakout performance of the young, fresh faced, fit, handsome, nimble, spry, athletic, humorous and game breaking goalkeeper were indeed spot on
Full Back "Milko or Bruno" and the loosey in defence "Hilly" were both very effective as you also stated.

Flinders and Onkas winners tonight.

Good first win tonight for us against an improved Irish Australians. Pretty comfortable win set up by a great first half. Irish never gave up and two second half unders put some respectability back in the scoreline. I think the key for us was regaining three key forwards (Todd McSorley, Tom Stirling and Michael Francis) who made an enormous difference.

Best players for us today I thought were Todd McSorley, Dechlan Gallan, Pat Oneil and Alex Haughey

Now for next week and Onkas, going to be an extremely tough match, hopefully we can end their unbeaten start to the season

You haven't seen the great Gino Pegararo play, he spent 85% of game play at the half way line :D

Round 3

Saints to break the duck and get the season started with a win over mitcham. 6-10 points

Loving machine to continue improving with a solid win over port. Port will be missing tom nicohols as i will be getting him pissed at derby day. Goats to win 16+.

Onkas to beat Flinders in a game of the round blockbuster. tensions will be high and this could be an epic. Flinders boys will love a chance to cause an upset. this will go to the wire and will not be suprised to see flinders win. onkas for me 1-5.

Na Fiana will be too strong for the improving Irish. Kenny Fay to set a scoring record. finns by 16+.

Thought the umpiring on friday night in our game was very good, let the game flow and kept discipline. Mitcham have improved a great deal and will only get better they are a fast running side apart from a couple of heavy bodies. The goats started to look damaging close to the goal and the return of big Flash Gordon is very welcomed by the goats.

ROUND 3 TIPS...

ST.B 6-10 v MITCHAM
WEST IRELAND 16+ v PORT
NA FIANNA 11-15 v IRISH DOECKES

Match of The Round
ONKAS 1-5 v FLINDERS. OK teams i want a good clean fight, now touch gloves and belt the p*ss out of each other. This game will be choc full of sublime skills, star players, clever banter, brutal physicality with a fair share of hatred and a dash of resentment. If Flinders put their best 15 on the Park they will win but Im backing Onkas to win the game just and the thugs to win the fights ;)

I see the latest results and ladders are up on the website at http://www.gaelicfootballsa.com.au! Make sure you check them out and suss the form before lodging your tips with Wristy!

Will certainly be setting the tape for Junior Master Chef and will be heading down to watch the Onkas vs Flinders match this Sunday night. Liked the look of Flinder's Todd McSorely up forward who must be one of the best point kickers in open play in the league. Also liked the "leggy style" of the tall headbanded one up front! Didnt look like much with the ball in his hands, but when playing it along the ground he had a very nice touch indeed.

Perhaps this match will provide the biffo that was sorely lacking in the International Rules match over the weekend!

St Brendans 6-10 over Mitcham
After one of the poorest first halves in a while the taints finished off strongly against Onkas. Think they will take that form into this weeks clash with Mitcham.

West Ireland 11-15 over Port
Still havent seen the newbies of the comp. But sounds like the goats had an ominous return to form last week. Thats good enough for me.

Na Fianna 11-15 over Irish Australians
The Fins are the quiet achievers of the comp so far. Getting some very solid results without any fanfare or fuss. Should get the chocolates over the competitive IA. This week could even see the Delvinator take a step back for the first time in his life once he hears that on his holidays in Spain Matt Doecke didnt want to run with the bulls....so he walked.

F'ON 1-5 over Onkas
Onkas are playing a more traditional style of gaelic this season. I think this will help them come finals time but this week i am tipping against them in what i expect to be a cracker of a contest.
