I don't have Roughy but do have Shaw who could cost me the game as well :(

Looking like straight sets out for the Texans

Thankfully he wasn't. Poon traded Suban in and that made him 17 points over Shaun Burgoyne as his E. Sandilands going down means I have won unless he makes another trade but even that shouldn't matter I don't think.

Semi Finals Review

1st Semi Final

Underdogs 2256
Texas Danger SSC 1861

The Underdogs have progressed to a Preliminary Final match up against the Q Man after everything went pear shaped for Hondo this weekend. This week saw the demise of plenty of good SuperCoach teams and without doing the research I'd suggest that 1861 is probably the Texan's worst score for the season. Shaw, McEvoy and Martin were the main offenders but there were plenty of other players down for the Texans as the Underdogs went on to record a pretty good score for what was a shocking round for most SuperCoach teams. Well done Gibbo who is now two wins away from a historic Premier League triumph.

2nd Semi Final

Buddyroughhawks 2199
Poon Army 2037

The Poon Army went off into the night on a whimper and when I finally hear from him on Thursday the first thing he'll say to me is 'Sandilands - never again'. Poonie went all Freo at the death and it's bitten him on the arse big time as Sandi got 67 last week and was subbed off injured in todays unremarkable destroyation of the Demons. Buddyrough was a little below his best but his performance was good enough to beat the Poonmantle Dockers and I'm hoping for a repeat by the real thing next month. Imagine Ross Lyon winning a flag! wycbloods will now play Groover's Captain Who in what should be a cracking Prelim Final while Hammo spends the summer what the hell went wrong with what was a very promising Hogg Shield campaign.

I'm shattered talk about everything going wrong at the worst possible time :(

When McEvoy was subbed I almost laughed at my Titanic disaster of a round.

Unlucky Hondo - on paper it should have been a close contest. I was fortunate to escape most of the carnage where as you got hit with everything. It can be a cruel game.

Hogg Premier Prelim Final Previews

1st Preliminary Final 1 - Captain Who? vs. 6 - Buddyroughhawks

The reigning Hogg champion is two matches away from a historic back to back premiership at this level but faces the not inconsiderable challenge that is represented by the looming Buddyroughhawks. For the Captain it must be asked - does the man have trades? McEvoy in the ruck with Jacobs as back up is a huge question mark for a side of his calibre. If Groover is in a trade rich environment it must be very tempting to trade in Nicholls and upgrade McEvoy who looks cooked. With Clisby and Heppell down back Captain Who won't be alone with woes in that part of the ground but even without trades there are no donuts even though Blayne Wilson won't be causing wycbloods to lose any sleep. Midfield all good but as I've said on this site several times tonight there is a big red light flashing over Cotchin. 2-5 for the Tigers against GWS = a late out (I'm hoping it's Martin). Like many, Groover has Tom Mitchell as cover in this area. Up front the Captain is solid but he won't be hoping for a late out for Martin.

His opponent buddy is down two in defence as well with Hartlett rubbed out and Clisby still serving his suspension. Discipline bloods! The buddy's midfield looks even better than Captain Who so nice work there against one of the most accomplished coaches in the Hogg. With no Cotchin to worry about this is a real potential area of advantage. The Cox/Roughead combination eclipses Groovers set up...he HAS to trade to win this I feel. Up forward small forwards Rioli and Harvey will be giving Groover plenty of headaches.

Groover hasn't put a foot wrong for nearly two years now but I reckon his premiership defence might end this weekend. I reckon an upset is on the cards here. My tip - Buddyroughhawks.

2nd Preliminary Final 2 - Q Before You vs. 5 - Underdogs

Experienced Hogg coach Underdogs has the biggest match of her career against a battle hardened Q Before You combination in what looms as another excellent Preliminary Final. The Underdogs have been scoring strongly at the right time of the year this time around after petering out a bit towards the end last year. Q Before You would have been a raging favourite for the this clash but he's had some REB-like luck with his backline during the week off. Hartlett - tick, Heppell - tick, Shaw, Gibbs, Hanley, tick tick tick. All this ticking could be a timebomb that could blow apart the Q Man. The Q Man has an excellent midfield and the best possible ruck combination of Minson and Goldstein pretty hard to top that. Up forward six guns await with Buddy and Dusty the potential weak links but you'd expect to get more than the 126 they got between them last week. If Q Man goes down here with his beautifully prepared side, it will be the backline time bomb that gets him.

The Underdogs have a history of doing well in the finals but this is the first time they have come this far at this level. Gibbo has Hartlett as well but dodged the Heppell bullet. Clisby is still rubbed out but that won't cost the sharksta many points. It's Cox v Minson in the rucks as the Dogs selected a Dog instead of hopping on the Roo. Up forward a potential wildcard could be Nick Reiwoldt. Not many teams have the Alpaca in their side and a big result for Nick this week could stun the Q Man. I expect that both teams have trades left, certainly plural in Q Man's case. I reckon Q Man will make the moves needed to avoid the time bomb and qualify for this second successive grand final in Hogg Premier League. My tip - Q Before You.

Q is flying!

Frustratingly it looks like I might have beaten all the semi finalists this week bar Q. Great theory except I would have played him this week and lost anyway.

The other semi looks very close. Good luck guys.
