Dogwatcher wrote:Zip Zap - I love your list! The whole list.
Not the stand outs (which are of course St Nick Cave and New Order for mine) but the stuff I loved is St Etienne, Ride, The Chills, The Hummingbirds and The Underground Lovers, as it's rare I see them on a list like this!
Of those I particularly love The Chills and Ride.
Will contribute my top 25 soon.

Kahuna wrote:Mal, Focus were a Dutch band from the 70's who released a number of albums but only aroused local interest with "Live at the Rainbow" which included the track "Hocus Pocus".This was on an earlier release and as I understand it was almost an acoustic track, however on "Rainbow" it grows several new legs.It becomes a show piece for the musicianship of all the members (the lead guitarist was voted best in the world in some poll or other way back when). It is a manic 8 minute song (not including the reprise) unbelievably toe tappable and reinstates yodelling as an artform.
The Toe Jam Jug Band,I have virtually no information on and I don't think they have ever had a hit as such. They are the exception in my list as the criteria I used was that the band must have released multiple albums to lend some credibility to the "Best" tag, where I only know of one song by TTJJB and that is "Plastic Jesus".I put it in just because I like the song so much. The song was in a well known movie from the late 60's.I understand virtual buns are a prized give away on this site so a bun for naming the film, another for naming the character who sang it and a goodly dollop of icing for naming the event that led to him singing it.
Not sure about your reference to Gidget,I will hold off incriminating myself till I get a better understanding of where you are going with it.No stuff it.Yes I did watch Gidget movies. It doesn't make me dirty.Just...........different
