At the end of the day, most cricketers are decent blokes off the field (except Stuart MacGill).

Most should know that. What they do in celebration in the heat of the moment shouldn't be used as a character judgement.

That said, I still feel an over-powering urge to knee-cap Freddy Flintoff.

Jealousy is a deadly sin. :(

I reckon that's a fair post mate, he was also the first to commiserate with our boys after the Kasprowicz dismissal in the last series over there ... So he's a show man, usually we all complain there aren't enough characters left in sport, but Freddie is certainly one.

I agree that on records and achievements he won't be remembered as a great of the game, but he'll no doubt be remembered as one of the most entertaining of his era.

I reckon Punter has a decent score or two left in him in this series ... For all the stick he cops, he's an angry little ant when things aren't going his way and he usually fights back hard with the willow.

TBH - my comments about Flintoff weren't made out of any disregard for the bloke.
I think he's been a reasonable player and is good for the game.
I also acknowledge that he's regarded as a good bloke by team-mates and opposition.
My point is more about the hypocrisy of the Aussie bashers, from home and away, who are quick to jump on our blokes but forget about the foibles of the opposition in their jealous haste to post judgement and form opinions on our players.
Hence my question, why is Brett Lee considered a prat for his celebration and Flintoff not (especially as Lee seems quick to commiserate with fallen opponents as well).
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

I don't know the answer mate, but at a guess I'd say Lee was a victim of Australia's success ... TBH I can't recall too many people getting stuck into him*, but I don't follow the cricket as closely these days.

IMO I think it is more human nature than anything else...For Aussies who rip into Lee it's the old Tall Poppy Syndrome, for everyone else it's jealousy that most other countries don't have a genuinely fast, aggressive strike bowler. Also there are those of us, myself included, that don't like the over the top celebration, either by standing there in the Jesus Christ Pose (thankyou Soundgarden) or doing the Chainsaw. We would prefer a quick doff of the cap, some shaking of hands and then back to the start of the run up ready for the next batsman...

But I'm a bit of a traditionalist, or as my wife would say... a miserable bugger :D

I'm with you Jase.
Although, I must admit I'm probably trying to forget some of my over the top wicket/goal celebrations from my younger days ;)

Whenever I took a wicket, my celebrations were more of a slow dazed walk down the pitch due to the shock that the Right arm slow rubbish managed to fool someone into doing something stupid...

However, when I scored a goal for Payneham United, you would have thought I'd just scored the winner in the World Cup...  that was embarrasing...
