Well after a quick start by Devon Smith and Gayle, WI are now 9/128. They have lost 5 wickets in 19 minutes, with debutant Graeme Onions taking 4 wickets in 7 balls, making it 5 wickets in 8 balls.

Shocking performance here by the WI. Shows that catches win matches after dropping 7 in the evening session yesterday, and England holding onto some difficult chances thanks to Collingwood.

WI now 9/132 (as Collingwood drops a catch, mockers on him i think). Need another 45 to avoid the follow on

A few observations
1/ Windies were pathetic in the field
2/ Widies were pathetic with the bat
3/ Stuart Broad is the Biggest WANKER in world cricket

Agree with 1 and 2.

With number 3, there are two people that i think are worse. 1: Johan Botha. 2: Paul Harris. I think Broad (who is a very handy cricketer) is definitely number 3 on the list and unlucky not to be number 1 or 2 on my list.

Windies 5/96 in their 2nd dig.

This will only inflate England's heads and if KP can't score against this mob how is he going to cope later in the year

England have recalled Ian Bell and Ryan Sidebottom to their squad for the second Test against West Indies at Chester-le-Street. Monty Panesar's omission is the only change from the first Test squad with the ground not favouring spin

Chris Gayle has said that he doesn't want to captain West Indies for much longer because of the pressure the job entailed.
Gayle also said that he "wouldn't be so sad" if Test cricket eventually gave way to the Twenty20 version

Wonder if there are any other test captains with similar thoughts?

Why would you send out a night watchman on what is obviously a good pitch on the first day?
All he is going to do is eat up valuable time whilst the pitch will be at its best to bat on. Pretty gutless by Pieterson.

No suprise that he is listed as next in

Pathetic by KP he is horribly out of form and just hiding so he doesn't cop it from the English Press.

Totally agree.
2/300 and send a bowler in to do a batsmans' job.
Mind you, it is still fairly common practice to this and if captains never did this DIZZY would never have scored his 201* which will still be talked about in 50 years time.

As a batsmen if you aren't prepared to go in at 2/300 then you shouldn't be playing the game.

Settle down.

Yes they were 2/300 but only with a couple of overs to go. KP is on a hiding to nothing. He can go out and get his eye in for 2 overs and make 3 or 4 and then have to start again the next morning or he can be dismissed. How is it of benefit to bat last night?

A lot of captains do it and i do not have a problem with it. I think this is more England and KP bashing more than anything else.

Not from me. Even in his current form i would be very surprised to see Michael Hussey send a night watchman in at 2/300. It is a good deck and he should be wanting to get out there and bat as early as he can and he passed that opportunity up.

Like i said why in the world would anyone want to bat for 3 overs at the end of a day. What is to be gained?

Because he is a batsmen and that is his job to bat. Where do you draw the line for a night watchman, 3,5,7,9 overs? It is obviously a good pitch and one he should want to bat on. I don't subscribe to the oh there is only 3 overs left i might get out if i go out to bat. He might get out first ball the next day but he needs to go out and bat as that is his job. Shows mental weakness to me.
